Does anyone know where in Omaha I can get a good snow cone?  Every other place I've lived has had little trailers that park in grocery store lots in the summer, but I've yet to see one in Omaha.

The zoo is the only place I can think of outside of the summer/fall carnivals.

About a year ago when I did a photo walk-through of the Vinton area, there was a vendor on the south side of the street in the middle of the afternoon.

About 1/3 down the page in the link above.

Rosenblatt has them.  Same vendor that makes the cotton candy.

My qualifier was a good snow cone. More like shaved or Hawaiian ice, rather than the little crystal pellets that you get at the Blatt.  A friend said there's a place in on 156th and Harrison, which is SO not anywhere that I would normally go, but I may have to venture out just to get my fix.  Although that place on Vinton is a lot closer. Hope it's good.

I am not a fan of snow cones so they are all the same to me, that just where I see them all the time.

What in the world is at 156th and Harrison that sells snow cones?  Nothing I can think of, and I'm there regularly.

A Tropical Sno stand, from what my friend said.  They're usually little trailers in random parking lots from my experience.

I'll keep an eye out for it when I pass by there this afternoon.

There was a Tropical Sno stand at Horseman's park this weekend.  Big styrofoam cup, plenty of syrup (half strawberry, half pina colada), wiped all the sticky off the cup before giving it to me, $2.50.  It was probably an 8 out of 10 (with the craptastic ice crystals in a triangluar paper cup at the Blatt being about a 3).  The guy said they're an events-only company out of Lincoln, but at least I got my fix for now.

I have to provide a brief update on my summertime hunt for a snow cone..there is a stand on the CB side of the pedestrian bridge that sells a pretty darn good $1.50 snow cone.  Not the best syrup selection, and they have the annoying paper cone cups, but the ice was excellent.

I would also like to note that there is currently a snow cone machine company banner ad at the bottom of this text box.  Awesome.  May have to buy one.

Almost every weekend this summer there has been a snowcone trailer open with snowcones for sale in the parking lot of the Family Video rental place.  This is the one on Harrison, about 156 I think it is.

Yes, yes there is.  Been there many times this summer!  They're about a 9 out of 10 for me.  It'd be a 10 if it was in Dundee.

Ya the one on 120th and Blondo right behind the Kum and Go has been there all summer and makes a killer Snow Cone. My favorite is the Husker Power (cherry, strawberry, watermelon, i think red raspberry too) delicious!
