I don't know if anyone else knew this but there is Chick Fil-A under the dome at Mutual of Omaha. My brother told me about it and I didnt' believe him but during our orientation tour the other day we saw it. I actually liked in when I was in Austin but it seemed to expensive there. It's cheaper here though.

It's probably subsidized to some extent by Mutual.

I swear that place is bigger or as big as FNC. They have 7 buildings. 1, 2 (Building 2 floor 8 is mine), and 3 are in the main big building. Building 4 is underneath the dome and it's 3 huge circle stories underground. The south building (5, 6) which is really cool inside, is connected to the main buildings under Farnam. I can't think of where the other building is exactly but it's called the northeast building. Confused

The Chick Fil-A is only open during lunch and a little bit before and after.

Be careful with that camera DTO... I'm betting Mutual is uncomfortable with people taking photos on their property.

Chick Fil-a here in Atlanta is like walgreens in Omaha...just picture that. Oh yeah and if you work for them you never have to worry bout working sundays because they are closed every sunday, no exceptions. The owner said this was to ensure that none of his employess could miss church. f course this was in the begining of the company and they kept it

I've been trying to find spots where I could get away with it. I might even just ask security and let them know what I'm doing one day. But if I got out of the court house ordeal...

So...  Why all the hype about Chick Fil-A?

I've never eaten at one, so I may just be unaware of the obvious.  But it sure seems like there's a lot of hype about them.

Are they really that good?

i dunno.  i think it's probably a case of over-hype, similar to that of culvers.  prior to their opening in council bluffs, i had eaten at the one on 120th.  Since it had been a while, and everyone was going crazy over culver's opening up, i gave it a shot.  "Try the butter burger man, it's awesome!"  Had it.  Not as good as mcdonald's angus mushroom and swiss, but sure enough it cost about the same...if not a smidge more.  The chicken was ok, ice cream ok, but if i want fast food chicken or ice cream, i'll stick to KCF or DQ.  If i want a burger, i'll keep getting the angus mushroom and swiss.  No matter what anyone says, that is a good effin sandwich. Smile

For fast food, Chick-Fil-A is pretty darn good.

For fast food, it's not bad. A definite cut above your typical McDonalds or Taco Alpo.

However, a chicken cutlet sandwich at a greaso-spoono diner or local bar and grill will usually run circles around it.

Taco Alpo.  I like it!   Very Happy

I guess that's kind of my point.  If you're wanting GOOD food, you won't be going to a fast-food joint anyway.

LOL, I honestly can't claim that as original. Sad I kinda wish I could. Smile

Agree.

Fast food is "there and now" if there's a need, but I really can't get excited over it, nor can I get excited about yet another highly formulaic chain eatery invading the area.

However, I admit to being somewhat of a hypocrite about this. I'll often do something like Wendy's or Popeye's if I'm in a hurry, and if those I'm with want to do Applebees, I'll seldom press for another choice. I do admit that many of the chain places (Old Chicago, Ruby Tuesdays, Famous Daves come to mind) can be enjoyable, but there is something about the indie places which just cannot be duplicated by the chains.

Yep.  I hit the fast-food joints out of necessity, when time is short and I just need to grab a quick bite.  I normally just order a couple things off the Dollar Menu, and a glass of water.  Probably a little less toxic that way, and definitely cheaper.

Also, we don't eat out too often, especially at the more expensive place.  They're just too expensive, plus the food is never quite as good as what my wife cooks at home.  She's amazing.
