Was downtown a couple of days ago in mid to late afternoon and took some photos.

Here are a few of them.

I'm going to miss this "canyon" when the old UP is gone. But it will be nice to have the street level retail that Wallstreet Tower will offer.

Future Wallstreet Tower

Goodbye, old UP. Sad

I love these buildings next to the Paxton. I'm looking forward to their rebirth.

Bittersweet no more? New blues club downtown?

Sweet pics, man!

That blues club has been there since at least May (Katie and I went to a show at the Orpheum, and that blues club was having an outdoor concert that was so loud you could hear the drums between the movements of the piece we were seeing).

Whatever happened to those pics of us hanging out from Christmas? Did they get deleted?

I doubt they would fit through my mailbox. Is it a problem to upload them to your fotki in a locked album?

I went downtown today and took pretty much the same route that you did. I walked past everything you present here.

Deja vu?

thanks for sharing, great pics as usual. its nice that I'm not the only one who will miss the old UP. Reminds me of some old Swanson plant pics that I have that created a nice "canyon" effect for the Leahy Mall.

Great Shots. I'm always jealous of the angles and viewpoints the forumers find DT.

This just hit me, would anybody be willing to help me put together a pedestrian photo tour map of Downtown? I envision a guide that takes the participant to the best vantage points and picturesque views. I'll publish the detailed map (with pics) on my website.

Any takers?

Some really good shots!!....looks like it was an almost tropical
Jan. afternoon! From all the recent fotos however, I'm starting to
see that more landscaping needs to be done in areas other than
the Mall -- More plants that stay green (more available all the time)
are needed to soften the winter bleakness. The tree wells and
planters, with just bare DIRT are a good place to start.
When I was downtown last summer l thought the 16th St. Mall was
looking really 'tired' and somewhat overgrown. The shade was nice
but it almost seemed like a case of 'not being able to see the forest
for the trees' - prune those babies back!, and those round concrete planters...(esp. without plants)....help!

The idea of a 'Photo-vantage Tour' is a great one.

On this forum I've seen many shots that blow away many of the
Omaha 'promotional related' pictures that get published!
'They' need to get with it and hire some photographers that
know the city and have a passion for showing off good angles.

These make me excited to buy a new digital camera and bag
some of my own!

Good stuff Streets, you always have a different angle in pics that I don't see while shooting.

Bradley, I'd be glad to contribute to the photo tour project.

It appeares to me that it was taken from the parking garage next (east) to the Double Tree.
