Re: Urban Grocery Store

Stipulations of course. No surface lots, and no minimums. If Hy-Vee thinks they can get away with 1/4 of the TOD recommendations, let them. Who knows, in 10 years we might have the sort of transit where eventually the only garage at the civic site would be this one. And that's OK IMO because you mi...

This video shows in real life how drastically the density of our CBD needs improvement, and how dramatically under used all the surface lots and parking garages are! But let's build more!

Benson is also a great part of town! It's a hip up and coming area with tons of great restaurants, bars and music venues! There's a new market rate apartment building going up called Benson Lights Apartments! Tons of Amenities (pool, courtyard patio, roof top deck, 24 hour gym) easy access to down t...

Re: M's Pub Explosion and Fire

I hope the whole Old Market gets together and does some sort of grand re-opening. I hear that traffic has been way down. Hire a band. Have a parade. Block off the streets and have a festival. Just do something to attract attention. I love this Idea! I've always thought the OM should be more of a pe...

Re: ConAgra Campus?

Does anyone know whats going on behind the Embassy Suites Downtown, There are a whole bunch of trees that were torn down, and some pretty heavy grading work...maybe the beginning of a 9th St reconnection? Building permit is for a Commercial Parking Lot. Project Description: CONAGRA - 99 spaces. Sou...

Re: The Old Market - Clean It Up or Keep it Quaint?

Totally agree...the Old Market is long over due for a make over...the stretch from 12th to 13th is barren like a busted up bankrupt Suburban Strip Mall!! I can't believe that in one of Omaha's most notable tourist areas there is so much broken up uneven concrete, there are no trees, or flowers or pl...

Re: Omaha Alternatives Analysis

City needs to develop an early and great marketing strategy other than cool looking bus stations, hopefully provide park and ride lots for our suburban friends. Maybe provide free ridership for a pre-determined amount of time. They really get people involved and excited about this! This is an opport...

Re: Omaha Alternatives Analysis

Where could you find the room for that? Space is a huge obstacle and limit to the scope of this BRT. I agree that people aren't going to leave their cars to stand at a bus stop in 100 or 0 degree weather? There are certain stops along the route that could do it; like all the stops along west Dodge....

I heard from a friend that works at HDR they DO NOT want retail in the building...they don't want to mess around with being a landlord...they want to leave the retail business to the Capitol District across the str...
