Re: Westgate Plaza (Mangelsen's - NEC 84th & Grover)

While I feel bad that they are getting evicted, it's just business. The strip owner sees an opportunity to fill numerous empty bays at once and probably generate more revenue than they are making now. sucks that they lose their spot after 58 years, but the owner kind of sounded unhinged on their soc...

Re: Bellevue Waterpark (Highway 34 and 75)

I don't necessarily see it being a regional draw in and of itself in a bubble. But, it would probably be more of a regional draw when combined with the other things Omaha has to offer. If a family is already coming in for a zoo or CWS weekend from, let's say, Des Moines or KC, they will look for oth...

Wasn't there some concern that Papillion Commons at 84th & 370 would cannibalize the customers and brands of Shadow Lake Towne Center? Yeah there was. I think that's going to be much more on the residential side of things. Papillion Commons probably wasn't on the radar of the stores that have g...

The rebound of Shadow Lake is almost shocking. They still have a ton of openings in that center bay, and I'm not sure there is a way to fix that area given the lack of vision for the stores and terrible parking in that area, but overall, it's been a great turnaround for Shadow Lake and I wasn't sur...

As far as I can tell, around here, Texas-style BBQ mostly just means they use a lot of black pepper in their brisket rub. Outside of that, Omaha's take on "Texas-style BBQ" as it applies to anything other than brisket is more or less similar to any other local (KC-style?) BBQ joint. I've ...
