Someone else said it was not downtown, but probably the best meeting hotel in the metro is Embassy Suites in LaVista - right on I-80 at Giles.   Have been to many meetings there and also stayed there - they do a great job. If you want a "get away" have also had great conferences at Mahone...

I've seen the trails in Papillion open during the whole winter season.  I believe they get on the sidewalks and trails almost as soon as they begin clearing the secondary roads.  After everyone of the last big storms I've seen the trails open.   Wonder if the other cities outside of Omaha that ha...

Sumtur Outdoor Amphitheater

Went to the Bjorn Again concert last night at Papillion's Sumtur Amphitheater. I loved ABBA, so really enjoyed the concert - the group did a great job, but: I was really impressed with the setting.   The amphitheater sits in a bowl so the accoustics were great.  We moved around during the evening ...

Geography of Jobs: Animated graphic 2004-2009

Pretty cool graphic on job growth/loss by MSA.

It is a map of the US and can't drill into a state or MSA level, so Omaha doesn't stand out the best... but still a nice representation.

I heard about this new service called Recycle Bank on the news so I checked out their website and when I went to sign up for the service, I was disappointed to learn that the Omaha area isn't set up for it yet.   Do you think this program is something our area would even get involved in at some poi...

YES there were layoffs today.   Word was primarily Directors and VPs.

I personally know of five folks that were officially notified so it is confirmed.

How many total - no clue - rumor I was hearing last week was 300, but that was probably company wide and not Omaha.

With that expansion, that Amphitheatre is going to become a great regional draw.  I could see some groups that would have usually just traveled down the interstate to get to Denver, Chicago, KC etc may now actually stop a night to put on a show just to fill there schedule. Also heard that the Omaha...

I do know I would attend more games in Sarpy.  I go to about 3-4 a year at Rosenblatt.  Downtown, I'd go maybe that many depending on the parking hassle.   In Sarpy I would probably go once a month. I do believe a small new stadium will go a long ways in making the I-80 corridor a more regional t...

Re: Things that have changed since I left Omaha

One last question about Ames. In the same general area as the hospital was a restaurant that I always wanted to go to but never got the chances. It was on the north side of the street and the sign had a cartoon character fish or frog, can't remember which. I'm pretty sure it was a popular restauran...
