The last of the cats in the 1970’s era cat complex have been moved out. Female Snow leopard and cubs moved to Asian Highlands yesterday. I believe that demolition is planned for this fall. The Zoo’s Facebook page has a really good video with the Curator of Large Mammals on why the cat facility was d...

Per the article in the Weird Jerald it looks like the zoo plans to continue the Alaskan coastal theme with plans for polar bear and brown bear exhibits, sea otters and lynx. Plans to move the carrousel and train station to where the sea lion pool is now.

According to a news item from the Omaha Zoo Foundation website posted June 25 under “Omaha Does Coast at Zoofari” the zoo is expecting a baby rhino around Labor Day. For those of you with big bucks you can bid for naming rights. The blurb doesn’t specify whether it is the Indian or White Rhinoceros.

I don't know how they are going to solve this problem. Public transit was tried last year, but the zoo does not plan on using the shuttle bus and remote parking this year because of underutilization when they had it. More parking doesn't solve the problem of overcapacity streets and highway exit ram...
