I noticed on my way home from work yesterday that the former Women's Center for Advancement building is being demo-ed. Not sure if that means any movement is occurring with this project -- could just mean this is an empty lot for a while.

Downtown Omaha is teetering on the brink of being a total food desert, with no relief in sight for years (if a downtown Hy-Vee that we all hope for even comes to fruition). Tell me why anyone would want to live in a downtown with zero walkability? The closest grocery store is what, Wohlner's in MTC?

Folks are already mobilizing against this through the Nextdoor app in the Dundee area. Not exactly their neck of the woods but that's where the resistance seems to be building that I can see.

Yes that name is unfortunate...

I do think their hands were a bit tied as I think The Sunks is the historical neighborhood nickname for the area. They could've tried to rebrand it, but I doubt that would've taken.

Wow, this project was completely off my radar, which is sad since I currently live just a block away. Good for Dundee though, such a great neighborhood but many of the sections on Dodge in that stretch don't really do the neighborhood justice. This is a little belated, but I stopped by this site to take a look in mid-December (helped work on the financing for this project) and a crew was already in the building clearing out waste. Think this one should be turned around fairly quickly as it is a rehab project.
