That is HARDLY a fair comparison. I don't see them tearing down riverfront property in NYC to put up a suburban office building (a la Gallup). Plus in Manhattan green space like that is non existant. We've started doing paddle boarding at Standing Bear (which also has good fishing), but with this set up following what they did it Prairie Queen, it will not be conducive. The lake is primarily for flood control anyways. I doubt that reservoir water cares if it submerges a few trees. Think you nailed it right there... But it is also being used by the public as a park. It's not like it's for flood control only and being put off limits to the public behind locked gates...
