Looking at this again I really hope this gets stopped ASAP. To me it looks like whoever planned this said "Let's just bulldoze everything and call these worthless spots event spaces" There's zero value for the downtown real estate here and its worth the price to develop the riverfront.

I really don't think Shadow Lake is going to continue to be very successful. Giant, exclusively retail developments like this aren't going to work for the 21st century. The projects that are successful are mixed use developments.

That sounds like a great idea. The main concern for investing in public transport in the suburbs is the lack of utilization that would exist.

Omaha is definitely not large enough or dense enough support light rail. The streetcar is the best we can ask for right now and I think it would be a great start.

Also not sure how the logistics would work but their current main building could definitely be renovated (if even partially) into a classy hotel.

While in CB the other night, I noticed that even quite a few lights in residential neighborhoods have been converted to LED. Not quite sure why Omaha is lacking in this so much. There is a reason why Tesla already has a mountain of orders for the Model 3. The advantages gained from EVs leaves gasoline vehicles in the dust, 2 states back :lol: .

Its a city, and even statewide issue. There is zero forward thinking with anything. We are a react state rather than a plan ahead state. It seems like we always have to wait until roads are so congested that they're not functional anymore, to get them widened to the standard they should have already...

Having experience in retail I can tell you that at least in Omaha, most people still do the majority of their shopping brick and mortar. Amazon doesn’t mean all brick and mortar gets eliminated, it just weeded out those extra companies who were able to make a profit during the height of shopping mal...

Inside isn't completely done yet, drywall is up though, I don't think there is much paint or anything. The apple employees have been very sketchy about this and deny they're moving.
