Re: METRO (Formerly Metro Area Transit - MAT)

It doesn't look like this will be a pull-in station, so I wonder how the terminating buses (18, 11, and 13) will turn around. Hopefully, they'll loop around in Aksarben with a couple of new bus stops.

Re: Study shows worst drivers in Omaha ...

An out-of-state relative and I came up with the term "Omaha Yellow" while driving around. It's almost expected that drivers will try to speed through the yellow and red phases here. There's been a lot of times where I thought I was cutting it close during a yellow light, only to see 2-3 mo...

Re: New Bike Trail

Woah, nice! I'll have to bike the Big Papio to Blondo to West Papio trail loop once it's finished. Is there a timetable?

I wish they would have kept the trail along the creek for the entire stretch instead of using the alternative (in orange).

Re: METRO (Formerly Metro Area Transit - MAT)

Nice list! Metro has information cards hanging in the bus promoting these changes as well.

I'm most excited for the real-time GPS tracking. There's a lot less stress to be had when you know where your bus is.

Re: METRO (Formerly Metro Area Transit - MAT)

I stand corrected! :D With construction starting just after the station design reveal, I jumped to conclusions.

Re: METRO (Formerly Metro Area Transit - MAT)

It looks like Metro has started construction at the Westroads Transit Center for ORBT. The transit center is closed, so buses are currently stopping on 102nd Street, directly west of Yonkers.

student wrote: Fri Apr 20, 2018 5:26 pm Sounds like metro also got rid of the bus-only lanes at 90th and 72nd, and the contra-flow lane that was supposed to run from 30th street east. Rather, ORBT will take Douglas St. along with normal traffic flow.
That's disappointing. Why call it "rapid" at this point?

Re: Official: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

My fiancee and I have been using the bus semi-regularly on the weekends to save money for a couple years now. It's incredibly cheap, surely cheaper than taking a car if the route works in your favor. Omaha Metro is super cheap compared to other bus systems in the US, too. $1.25 for a single trip in...

Re: 2017 Annexation

It can’t and won’t grow at all costs. That’s not at all sustainable. Banking on such non-stop growth is the same as banking on a pyramid scheme working out - at some point it’s going to stop and the city won’t want to be caught off guard with stuff it can’t pay for. There’s better solutions. Otherw...

Re: Omaha Alternatives Analysis

Awesome! I'm really looking forward to the upgraded line when it opens up. And I like how Metro is really going all-out on the marketing. I'm not even a little mad at how much this project costs. It's like 1/50th the cost of what a new light rail line would have been, while still offering most of th...

Re: Blackstone Business Improvement District

Cool story on the district, especially since I was at Coneflower last night! (they have some seriously good flavors). Initially went to Blackstone to get food/drinks at Nite Owl, but had time to get some bike gear at Ponderosa Cycle and dessert at Coneflower. There's much to do in that area. Plus I ...

Re: 51st & Mayberry

Somebody posted to Google Maps a good view of the construction progress for this site. The photo is about a month old, and it looks like the view is from Elmwood Tower.
