Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District

Lol nobody is paying luxury apartment prices in Gretna. They'll drop a couple 100k in design fees before realizing this isn't feasible and end up building some 5 over 1 |expletive| instead. Dumb project, cool building.

Re: Missouri River Commons (Riverfront Development)

Is this green the final color? RIVERFRONT.JPG I just checked the camera now and it looks like they "washed" off the green and its a gray color now. It's an acid-based product that is applied to concrete to expose the internal aggregate giving it a more rough texture. They have different s...

This one sparks joy. Looks like an attempt to imitate this but downplay the aesthetic with midwestern details https://i.postimg.cc/RJLSQjRf/1-A9571-C9-D439-4309-8-AA2-DAAD80-C50-B59.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/gnGkk2zK/E9-F8707-D-8-E08-4200-8289-6-D7058-E985-E9.jpg This one does not. https://planning.c...

Re: Gene Leahy Mall Remodel

I got to see the new park on Saturday. I've been to many of the new urban parks around the country and this one takes the cake. This is absolutely one of the best new parks in the country and probably even the world. Not being dramatic either. I knew the project would be amazing but it completely su...

Well... the Governor wants a new prison... I think this could be the answer. https://i.postimg.cc/xqGC9nbD/Screen-Shot-2021-12-13-at-11-21-56-AM.png God I hate all these buildings with fiber cement siding panels. Brick veneer is around the same cost and generally looks better to most people. These ...

Re: Official: Gene Leahy Mall

I was told an office building on the library site of 10-12 stories and the block east of the library they were hoping for a significant residential high rise of over 300 ft. That is what MECA EVP told me. They said that the residential high rise was taken out of renderings while they wait and see h...

Did some digging online. Building's fine. It's a good fabric building. Not everything needs to be an icon.

Re: Official: Gene Leahy Mall

It’s okay, I accept your apology. Omahacritic, if you were in charge of developing the GLM and Riverfront what would you do to improve those areas and spur more commercial, residential, retail, etc. development? Fair question. First, I would get it done! Not drag it out. The GLM portion west of 10t...

For some reason, Ive been looking over this thread, and ignoring it. Glad I finally did click on it. Ok, wow....those simulated videos are amazing. (That firm did an excellent job with the commands & orders they were given to work with, I have to say...) I have to say...the concept of filling i...

Re: Official: Gene Leahy Mall

I disagree. I think it's a brilliant renovation to bring more use to a drastically underused park. Are you going there at 3am? Its the busiest park in town. Every time I am there its busy. Adding cafes and restaurants is smart. You can make nice additions like Cafe's and restaurants without destroy...

Re: HDR Aksarben Office

I think what really turned me off the downtown option was the north side of the building and the gigantic parking facility that rose up nearly half of the building. Because that design sucked too. It seems Omaha doesn't know how to hide the parking garages in 1.either the CENTER of the block or hav...

Re: Crossroads - Redevelopment Plan

What a cluttered plan, just really bad design. Omaha needs quality urban design with a sense of place, not this scrambled mess. Couldn't agree with this more. Can you both expand? What would you do differently? Are you both designers? I just feel ANY plan could be submitted, and in general, somebod...

Re: Tetrad Development (Civic Auditorium)

I don't see people investing in luxury living across from a public library, known for attracting the lost and homeless. The Paxton which has condos ranging from 300K to over 800K is directly across the street from the current library. OK, your risk not mine. Doesn't seem to be holding any other cit...

I'm sure the building designs will change quite a bit, but I would guess that the overall site layout would stay about the same.

Re: Tetrad Development (Civic Auditorium)

Kind of underwhelming... looks like it belongs on a college campus, not an urban core. Does the greenspace open onto the overpass? :?:
