Re: The Omaha World Herald

I still prefer to read physical newspapers. I can go through one more efficiently, I don't have to interact with a glowing screen, no auto play videos, no popover ads. The experience is more enjoyable in my opinion. Everything you said there is 100% correct. Reading the physical paper is 10 times m...

Re: The Omaha World Herald

The World Herald posted this weekend that they are now going to make the paper an inch shorter starting next week. About a month ago they said they were not publishing the TV Guide no more to save paper. This is getting ugly. If they cut that paper back too much more its going to be the size of a co...

Re: Cicadas

The cat killed about 6 or 7 Cicadas in the last week. He ate about half of them too. It looks like those Cicadas are what he considers to be a pretty tasty bug. The problem the past week was the Japanese Beetles. Thousands of them flew in. They attacked my broccoli plants Thursday like Pearl Harbor....

Re: The Omaha World Herald

Does anyone read the Breaking Brad column in the OWH. Maybe I just don't get it but I cannot find anything but a very occasional nugget even remotely funny. http://www.omaha.com/columnists/dickson/breaking-brad-the-zoo-s-new-children-s-adventure-trails/article_a40e2f66-6afa-11e7-8847-33ec2693909c.h...

Re: Crossroads - Redevelopment Plan

Yeah, this guy needs to go. NEXT! ! Except that he owns it so he goes when and if he feels like it. If you read that article he teases/threatens that he would be happy to sit on that property and do nothing for awhile. He claims that with the failure of all the department and mall stores in the pas...

Re: Odds of President Trump making it the full 4 years.

50% Trumps seriously on the ropes about now and the hits keep coming...........hes got a 50/50 chance of finishing the term at best. I thought that he was your boy... Now you are betting square up? I think the Washington D.C. establishment means to hang Trump out to dry and make an example of him f...

Re: Begging on Street Corners

Smart of them, something that needs to be done here. Its understandable when I see someone downtown that looks like they're starving to death, but when I see them dropped off in a white van at the same time every day and picked up at the same time every day I know what's going on. Its people like t...

Re: Work Boot Recommendations

Didn't get much guidance at the Lincoln store, but at least I can wear the boots for a month and take them back if I don't like them. Settled on some Red Wing 2280's. So you started out with the Timberlands and you didnt like them so you took them back. Then you ordered the ones off the internet an...

Re: Crossroads - Redevelopment Plan

The developers were quoted as saying "No, no. THIS time we REALLY mean it!" Even the Mayor is saying, "Yeah, right ." The mayor has been accepting thousands of dollars in campaign funds from this developer that we know about. Who knows what deals have been done that we don...

I posted in this thread over a year ago that this place was going to lose money bad. Of course that post was deleted because not drinking the Koolaide is frowned upon around here often. Re: If The North Freeway Was Extended to I-680...

Thanks for the link. See...that's my whole point of locating the interchange further west: 1) You avoid the tangle & complications with the adjacent Highway 36 (& businesses) further east. 2) The connection is mainly for the continuing growing northwest suburbs -- all that will eventually d...

Re: Wooing Businesses To Omaha

Lol...you guys... Not everybody likes White Castle, of course, but it's enough of a crowd pleaser that they are sold frozen at the grocery store even in Omaha. Also, that silly, crude "So& So Go To White Castle" movie (I can't remember the two guys' names) shows how far guys will go t...

Re: If The North Freeway Was Extended to I-680...

There's a Bronx-like brown, blocky high rise apartment building at 60th & Sorensen right near meandering country lanes w/ fencelines & horses, and 60's housing. It's like: What is this? The Bronx? Or, Mayberry? Or, Chestershire Farms?) That is a low rent/no rent public housing tower. I watc...
