Unfortunately I don't think Omaha will ever get an new decent sized amusement park. Every couple of years someone comes forward with new plans but they always wither away. I don't understand it either. Maybe Sioux Falls will be the next city in the area to get a big new amusement park.

Agreed Cowboy. Just because Omaha isnt growing faster than the Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sacramento or Chicago suburbs shouldn't be cause for doom and gloom. I think Omaha is doing very well compared to the midsized and large cities. You can bet that retailers and employers will take note.

New 2005 Census Figures for largest US cities out.

Omaha ranked 43rd as of July 1, 2005 with 414,521. An increase of 5,502 over 2004. (1.3% increase). I would like to know how Atlanta went from 419,000 in 2004's figures to 470,000 in 2005? They have completely revised that cities population figures since 2000. I want an audit. I was looking forward ...

It's good to have a mix of suburban and urban growth. The "West Dodge" corridor isn't a bad thing. The urban sprawl going on is a little concerning but Omaha still ranks fairly well compared to other cities in the sprawl category.

Awesome news. One more block coming back to life. How many more to go?

I have to agree with you guys with all the development going on the streetscapes have deteriorated. Lots of sidewalks are cracked, curbs falling apart, weeds growing through the cracks. We need to hire some little old lady from South Omaha to give the streets a more manicured look. :D

Nebugeater I agree completely. This downtown vs West Omaha mentality is irritating. We are one metro and we all should welcome growth in all sections of the metro. A good balance of development downtown and the suburbs is the best scenario you could ask for.
