Re: The Omaha World Herald

Brad said it well a few posts above. I share his sentiments. It’s really sad to hear the OWH had to lay-off so many people, including some of their advertising dept. Reading the printed version has been a regular part of my daily routine most of my life. I read it online too as a subscriber. It has ...

The current Public Dale Clark library location is the most appropriate location, right across the street from the public GLM Park. There’s nothing to say the whole block would have to be used for a new library. Build a 1/2 or 1/4 block high-rise on that block and fit the new library in with some oth...

First time poster, long time reader. What do you think are the odds that Hy-Vee agrees to build here? I've heard that their in-store restaurant concept has been losing them major money and that they have been looking to expand more in Iowa and Minnesota. I think if they do build here, it would be a...

The thing I remember the most about The Diner, from when I worked nearby, was how your clothes would smell like greasy hamburger and fries the rest of the day if you went there for lunch! Plus cigarette smoke too, before the ban. Coworkers would always say "You went to the Diner for lunch, eh?&...

I really like the proposed design overall, but what the rendering shows happening (or not happening) at street level is a bit boring and disappointing. It shows store fronts of the lobby with curtains drawn, basically. I'd like to see them provide some lease-able space at street level. The Diner has...

It's good to know that the neighborhood went through the process of trying to get input from people with a stake in it. In an ideal, utopian city, you would certainly not be deprived of a bus line on major thoroughfares such as 132nd Street. However, the style of low-density, autocentric, non-grided suburban development that has been allowed to occur in that area makes transit financially unfeasible. It's a trade of...
