Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
Mayor Stothert also mentioned on Grow Omaha that the Med Center was working with HDR to look at what the streetcar through the campus will look like, and that it will likely go to Saddle Creek.

NuStyle Owned lot NWC 20th/Farnam
On Grow Omaha, mayor Stothert mentioned NuStyle said that they’ve been holding onto the surface parking lot west of Wells Fargo on Farnam (she said 19th but I think she meant 20th) and that they were originally looking at building a 4 story apartment building but were now looking at a 8 to 10 story ...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Yeah and with the renderings? I really hope it isn't only of that size. For five billion dollars and the goal for a huge entertainment district, it doesn't seem promising at all. I mean seriously - $5 billion. Aren't we talking just a mountain of money? Like enough to probably build a Universal Stu...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
I'd be okay if they wanted to extend it to the airport by way of 16th street and Carter Lake. Streetcars aren't much of a transportation solution. They're good in the intimate streetscape level, but if you need to cover distance quickly, a streetcar ain't it. That's why I hope they aren't really co...

Sort of surprised by the level of skepticism or cynicism if these are the right words. I don't always express my views here because I feel like I am often the cynic. My view on this one, for whatever it's not worth, is that this is a very important development. It is one of the grains of sand neede...

So 700+ apartments with an early estimate of 500 parking spaces, and a fair amount of "affordable" housing. Not a bad ratio for Omaha.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the word "update" but that would make me think it's not something new. Of course the police/fire headquarters rfp is well overdue for an update. And I'm all for 10+ stories at 10th and Harney but would that really involve a press conference? 1416 Dodge? I'd...

Re: Downtown Development Update from City Hall on 3/14/24
I’m siding with 11th and Harney. 1. The recent soil sampling that was done, and 2. There already was kind of a release about the Civic site. For a press conference to be called, I’d have to think that entails something “new”. Edit: if it IS 10th and Harney (or the old UP site), it will be more than...
