John Ewing is in the race. Probably about as strong of a candidate that Democrats could produce for this cycle.

I'd say it's mildly surprising after all of the stuff she went through early in this term, but good for her. As I said before, even as a pretty firm progressive, I'd vote for her if I lived in Omaha.

Previous news pieces note that the entrance to Lot A will need to be relocated due to the Streetcar Maintenance Facility, so maybe it’s just that. It would be surprising to see work like this starting without any other announcement

The % threshold is flawed. And has been for a number of years imo. I mean, it’s their sandbox, their term to describe something, and their rules. If it doesn't the tell the story we want it to means very little IMO. LOL. I don’t lose any sleep over it.. Believe me.. But you brought it up a couple p...

What they’re looking for is commuting patterns though. Hard numbers. There aren’t agendas to that. According to the 2020 5 year ACS data I’ve found, only about 3,000 people from Douglas county commute to Lancaster county for work, a bit higher than the 2015 numbers of around 2,300. To hit a CSA thre...

I think that the new fire and police headquarters could go here plus the state bldg. Open up the state bldg to development. Funny, I’ve been thinking the exact same thing! Then it should be more plausible for out of town developers to build a really tall mixed use building like the mayor wants on t...

Really whatever goes up on the site, I hope it has good urban design like shown in the image above. It needs to invite people to use it as a walking connection between CHI and Schwab. As I''ve said before, I think the Capitol District struggles in part because it doesn't invite people in well, parti...

NuStyle Owned lot NWC 20th/Farnam
On Grow Omaha, mayor Stothert mentioned NuStyle said that they’ve been holding onto the surface parking lot west of Wells Fargo on Farnam (she said 19th but I think she meant 20th) and that they were originally looking at building a 4 story apartment building but were now looking at a 8 to 10 story ...

Yeah and with the renderings? I really hope it isn't only of that size. For five billion dollars and the goal for a huge entertainment district, it doesn't seem promising at all. Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
I'd be okay if they wanted to extend it to the airport by way of 16th street and Carter Lake. Streetcars aren't much of a transportation solution. They're good in the intimate streetscape level, but if you need to cover distance quickly, a streetcar ain't it. That's why I hope they aren't really co...

Maybe I'm reading too much into the word "update" but that would make me think it's not something new. Of course the police/fire headquarters rfp is well overdue for an update. And I'm all for 10+ stories at 10th and Harney but would that really involve a press conference? 1416 Dodge? I'd...
