Re: WC Franks
You're all actually right. Brad described the one at 90th and Maple. The one at 108th and Maple was at the southern end of the Albertson's/Bag and Save strip. After WC Frank's it became a Spaghetti Western, then a Razzy's Deli after that. I'm not sure what's in there now.

Re: Storz Trophy Room Grill & Brewery (Rick's Boatyard)
This building needs to go. The amount of land/grass/parking that is utilized for this ONE BUILDING is about equal to the CenturyLink Center. Unless you have a super famous "destination restaurant" that is popular from the start, it's just not going to work. The building needs to go and the...

That was a joke - it's getting stripped down like the Carlos O'Kelly's on 132nd and Maple. I don't believe there is any word on what this site will become.drsunu1994 wrote:I believe the answer to this question was in another thread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's becoming a Carlos O'kelly.

Yeesh. Good luck to whoever gets the Council Bluffs side, as I expect that to have significantly less exposure. Going that length and back ends up being quite a walk for a lot of people from the "starting point" of 10th and Farnam.

That may be true, but it doesn't mean the solution is to forcibly cause worse traffic in order to get people to maybe try mass transit.

Re: Omaha Alternatives Analysis
If they can build this BRT with dedicated lanes, it could really make a difference. Stopped in traffic at 84th and watching the bus sail by at 40mph would sure motivate me to park at Westroads and take the bus the next day. No thanks. I don't see why we would need to force bad traffic issues to pe...

Re: John E. Johnston & Son Funeral Home
I wish a developer had bought the house in order to save it all on their own but they did not. Perhaps in order to save this piece of our city's history the city could have held a competition for ideas for reuse or architectural suggestions for restoration. There are lots of people and architect...

So you're saying we should wait until there is a problem before we do something? Cities 50 years ago had much smaller metros than they do now but were much more public transit oriented. We don't have to wait until we have freeways clogged at all hours of the day to be proactive in getting our |expl...

Wouldn't a passenger service between KC and Omaha be fantastic. Three leisurely hours down to Union Station, a short walk or cab ride to downtown, Westport or the Plaza for shopping, sightseeing, bar hopping and dining, then an easy relaxing trip home in the evening. A great day trip, and no need...
