Re: It's that time of year again- 2016 metro population estimates

It appears that a lot of people around the country are retiring. Many of the fastest growing metros had negative natural increase numbers, which implies to me that most of the people moving there are coming to live out their final years. Agreed. We are not a city that is set up for a large retiree ...

Re: It's that time of year again- 2016 metro population estimates

Im sure we lost a few families from the 300 jobs to Chicago, 1000 more being offsored. However, the city is under an unending predictament of more skilled labor demand than supply. The comments here brought out a bit of curiousity out of me. So I decided to check th monthly chamber jobs and labor nu...

Haha. I got a huge chuckle aftet reading that posted thread on the previous proposal. A flood of crying because we were wasting a chance on a higher-density mixed use development. Then this gets proposed and guess what? Crying because a high-density mixed-use development replaces that slot. I think ...

Mayor Stothert mentions Lot B as a 10 year project that would offer retail and dining options to boost the Convention Center, but would like to make it easier for people to get to the Old Market without having to use 10th St. She didn't give much more detail about a walkway or even transit, but did...

I agree there are tons of places I'd rather live in than Detroit except Omaha. I was in Novi for a while and got a chance to see a lot of the city and was impressed with the momentum. I think they should embrace the decayed areas and turn it into a green belt and pioneer some urban farming. Then qu...

I could care less about height here. The biggest thing for me is the fact that this can theoretically bring a walkable neighborhood right to the edge of the interstate, and get us that much closer to having a fully connected midtown and downtown. ^ This. 20 year max, 85% buildout projected with 8 years.

Hopes to start grading in the spring. Much fewer loopholes and delay potential given the SID with no TIF or tax break agreements.

The vision is to create a special downtown for west Omaha. In my opinion, it is at the expense of our existing urban core. I think that the following quote on ketv.com is significant. It’s all a part of pulling off biggest project of his career -- quite literally, a new downtown in west Omaha. &quo...

I just think that it doesn't help to strengthen the urban core east of 72nd St. At least it is not being developed on the outer fringes and adding to an already established part of town. True. However, the core east of 72nd isn't going to weaken or stagnate either. People and businesses that want t...

What I love about Omaha is the love of college sports which the NCAA fully recognizes and takes advantage of it when they can.
