From May 2000. Note where future restaurant and retail were potentially to go. Also, the land for the hotel was for a high rise, among other things.

Glass, metal, meh. You're in it for a few minutes and then you can look out the port hole in the plane. I've seen both and I just don't care. Yeah, there's a little jazz about glass ones now. For me, as long as I don't have to walk outside to get on or off the plane I'm good with either. I'd bet the...

Sorry. I meant the backstory leading up to the HNG merger that created Enron. When I have time I'll post it here. Suffice it to say an activist stockholder, the head of the company, and Ken Lay were all involved. Oh, and Mayor Mike Boyle made a valiant effort to keep Enron's headquarters in Omaha bu...

Allegiant was doing well in Omaha and they were considering it for a future base. Allegiant was set to announce OMA-FLL last winter, Southwest got wind and added it instead at 1x weekly and scared Allegiant away. They are doing the same thing with 1x weekly OMA-AUS. Southwest is sending a message t...

Re: Lincoln Airport (LNK)
I'm no expert in airport administration. A question. How many people are needed to manage 8 flights? Renovating offices? A priority? As I understand it Lincoln taxpayers are paying for some if not all of this. Were I a taxpayer I wouldn't be happy about this. Bring more flights/destinations/airlines...

Re: Lincoln: NCAA Basketball Tournament Bid
I think Lincoln has a great shot at this but more importantly Lincoln should bid for other championships. From what I read PBA is a great venue for NU basketball. The Haymarket/Railyard area looks amazing and downtown Lincoln hits the hot buttons as well.

Re: Civic Square (former Civic Auditorium)
Sometimes it helps to get out of Omaha and see what others do. I live in a suburb of Detroit, Southfield. I also lived in Oak Park for a while. Anyway, in my travels all over the metro I initially was amazed at the number of people who bike here. Even in the winter in the snow. It's called the Motor...

Another 220 airline? Florida-based? With fuel prices rising? Higher interest rates?'
Ought to call it Red Way.
Between Red Way and the terminal expansion paid for by property taxes if I was a Lincoln resident I'd really wonder about leadership of the city and the airport.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield
The only conflict I see is that parking accounts this much for the airports revenue: Have a revenue share between the bus and the airport. Maybe even contract with local hotels to operate as their airport shuttle. Yeah. Because after a long flight I want to wait til the bus stops at 10 other hotels...

Portland's is very similar to ours along the river, you don't cross state lines to reach it, though. Cincinnati's is in a completely different state. LaGuardia and JFK in New York are both next to water. A friend who is a pilot says landing at LaGuardia at night is similar to landing on an aircraft...

Re: Lincoln Airport (LNK)
I was looking at data between LNK and GRI. Grand Island is right on the heals of LNK enplanements. In November 2023 they were 9k vs 5k accordingly. I am guessing Lincoln loses out on passengers to both Omaha and Grand Island. Considering the size of markets, LNK should be much higher than it is. I'...

Re: Lincoln Airport (LNK)
The headline I want to see is... Eppley changes course on remodel and bulldozes airport. Lincoln airport bulldozed as well. Officials decide to build a big airport between the two cities. Why combine two airports when one airport already has 95% of the traffic? I get the Lincoln and to the West of ...

I've got a couple of takes. One, Omaha local tv stations don't ask questions for the most part. In this case, it was a groundbreaking & the news media was asked to attend. Second, it's a lot easier to just stick a mike in front of, say, the Airport Director and let them lead the conversation. In...

Nothing deeper can be shared on this rumor, as sources are under strict NDA. So that NDA worked well. When someone signs a NDA, which is a non disclosure agreement, they are legally bound by it. Should they break it there are severe penalties. Did the source forget his/her glasses? Did they lose it?

Google Council Bluffs. I'm not sure I'd call that not much. In 2007, we announced plans to construct a data center complex in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Then in 2012 and 2015, we announced expansions of our local data center facilities. Over time, we've invested $5 billion and have established a long-ter...

Delta has five lounges in its terminal here in Detroit and Luftansa has one in the other terminal. In the end it takes a massive ego to pull this off. Here in Detroit the Ford Family owns the Lions, the Little Caesars family owns the Tigers and Red Wings and Tom Gores owns the Pistons. He has a private equity firm. It's pretty much the same nationwide. It has nothing to do with companies buying s...
