Re: Ameritrade Business News

If the layoffs are over a certain number the DOL requires them to use WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification), The Nebraska notices are here: https://www.dol.nebraska.gov/ReemploymentServices/LayoffServices/LayoffsAndDownsizingWARN Yes, WARN was used. Employees who were let go are tech...

Re: Ameritrade Business News

Bad news today. TD Ameritrade/Schwab started with layoffs -- exact quantity still unknown. Perhaps 7% of the workforce of 35,000 nationwide. Employees who were let go remain employees and will get paid without having to show up until January 5. Then you get severance based on your length of service...

FM morning radio

Hi, What alarm clock/drive-time morning FM radio shows does everyone listen to? Is there any actual Omaha-based morning shows? Todd & Tyler are actually local on Z-92. For the last couple months I have been listening to Billy & Judi on KGOR but they are not local. They are starting to get on...

Photographs of Omaha for my Viking Cruise / Paris trip

Hi, In late May I am taking my mother on a Viking River cruise (Rhine river, Amsterdam to Basel) and we will spend 5 extra days in Paris. There are occasionally some really nice pictures of Omaha posted to this forum. I would like to put together a few photos on my Apple iPhone and iPad that show of...

Flame Kebab - 1668 Harney St

Hi,

Anybody have any details on the new restaurant appearing to go in at 1668 Harney St, the next bay to the east of Takechi's?
The sign says Flame, with something about kebab's, and two other food items (my memory fails me here).

Thanks.

Re: Best Restaurant Meal in 2015

Hi, Espana in Benson http://www.espanaomaha.com/ has been my favorite restaurant for the past several years. It is a very social thing, to go with good friends and order various tapas to share at the table. Not every tapas that I try is a 10/10, but the experience of sharing with friends is what mak...

Hi,
Here is a picture taken from OPPD today.
At one point ten workers were (freezing) on the roof.

Photo from October 9

Hi, Photo taken from OPPD. The brick structure on the east side is completely down now and the forms are done for pouring concrete. Thanks for help in how to post photos.  The instructions from Admin "HOW TO UPLOAD PICTURES TO POSTIMAGE.ORG" worked for me so that I didn't need to create a...

Oct 9 photo

Hi,

I have a photo taken from OPPD but I was not able to upload it to this topic.
Can someone share the secret to adding the photo?
Or I could email it to someone if they want to upload it for me.

Thanks

Southwest Tire owner retired

Rats!  I was hoping for a Walmart mini-market...but I guess, realistically, the space isn't large enough. But a Bucky's? What a disappointment!! BTW, did Southwest Tire close or relocate to another location? The owner (Tom C.) of Southwest Tire received an offer he couldn't refuse to sell to Bucky'...

Upvote Hartland BBQ, Downvote Ozark Smoked Meat

Hi, Please Omahan's, if you haven't tried Hartland BBQ, give it a go.  I work downtown and eat here about once a week for their lunch special of pulled pork sandwich, chips, and drink for about $6 and change. The true test of pulled pork is that they serve it without sauce added -- just chopped up....

Enjoyable

Had a nice night last Friday from 5pm to 8pm.  Had to leave to eat dinner though :(
Do a deal with Zio's pizza to provide the food.

Jimmy Fallon!!

I think that Jimmy Fallon might be the best of all the night talk show hosts. He is very inventive when he brings up people from the audience -- "Competitive Spit Takes" = Funny! As an improv specialist he really keeps up with his guests with funny material, especially when the other guest...

Big Horn Bad; Hartland BBQ Good

Hi, The Bad:  I went to Big Horn BBQ on 13th Street north of I-80 last week.  It was not good and I had such high hopes.  I had a pork sandwich and the brisket. The pork sandwich was horrible tasted on its own (without the sauce on it).  It had no flavor.  I could tell it had been soaking i...

Ack!

Not so happy about Wheatfields.  Had the Beef Stroganoff from the daily special menu at dinner on a weekend. There was way too much sauce, as in, did someone forget to add the noodles?  I fished around in the sauce and found a few, along with a few meat pieces. I carried the receipt around in my w...
