I know it is not finished but that first photo has no eye appeal to me. I agree, I just don't care for that much white. The building is pretty cool though, especially since it almost 130 years old. I never visited the Omaha location but did go to to the Des Moines' one once. I agree that their location near the small lake works better. However, the food was still nothing to fancy. It didn't seem any better than Red Lobster with really high prices.

They were moving pieces of the tower crane around on Friday too. I was thinking that they were going to assemble it then. It seems like they are taking forever to get this up.

The purpose of the covered bridge is to protect the wooden membrane structure from the weather. Most of these were in remote areas and were built "covered" so they didn't need much maintenance.
