Re: Elkhorn School Bond $130 Million

I can kind of see the rationale for building a third high school if they're expecting growth far to the north. But judging from Google Maps they could double the size of Elkhorn High if they moved the tennis courts next to the football field. Maybe at that point it would cost the same as building a ...

It looks like the "studio" actually has a bedroom, just no door for it. 676 sq. ft is pretty big for a studio.

Then every city looks clunky then -- including Chicago. Regardless of your nice ideals, freeways are always going to be needed. Yes, I do believe every city looks a bit clunky from freeways. And that's not to say that I think we shouldn't have freeways at all. Mostly I have a complete lack of confi...

What a cluttered plan, just really bad design. Omaha needs quality urban design with a sense of place, not this scrambled mess. Couldn't agree with this more. Can you both expand? What would you do differently? Are you both designers? I just feel ANY plan could be submitted, and in general, somebod...

Urban design is a term that encompasses all developed areas not just downtown as it might imply.

Most large cities still have a lot of surface parking. Sometimes they're not located in the most obvious places. We still have a number of surface lots in Chicago.

That said, we should try to get rid of as many as we can. They're not a very efficient use of space

Judging from the renderings on the website, this could pass for the "European Village" that keeps getting joked about - it looks like something you might find built in Germany or Scandinavia. I think they're a little optimistic on people being open to the location though.

I rarely have much interest in the city populations either. At least for Nebraska towns. All the annexation makes it difficult to really gauge how the city is doing with population. Population alone also tends to be a pretty poor metric for gauging the health of a city. St. Louis, for example, is co...
