Re: WSJ on the struggles of downtown St. Louis
The article is a little misleading. Some of the people quoted in it have stated their comments were taken out of context. Downtown St. Louis is not as active as other downtowns, but it's not as bad as it's made out to be by the WSJ. I work downtown and activity seems to be picking up as some of the...

Re: ZipLine Brewing Company
Many of the breweries around where I live - the "hip" part of St. Louis if you will - are family friendly with arcade games and generally kid friendly food menus. Both of the larger breweries within walking distance of my house are packed with families and friend groups who have kids on th...

You can’t really un-autocentericize Omaha without first providing desirable multimodal alternatives. There are some, but they only get you so far. One of the better ways to go about it might be to scale up multimodal transportation while simultaneously scaling down parking. Along with scaling down p...

Re: Wichita
I've been quite curious about Wichita. It wasn't too long ago that it was about the same size as Omaha, Des Moines, Tulsa, etc. Can you elaborate some on what you think has led leadership and the citizenry to want to not evolve into a larger city? Its really hard to summarize it. Growth: They are a...

I'd say it's mildly surprising after all of the stuff she went through early in this term, but good for her. As I said before, even as a pretty firm progressive, I'd vote for her if I lived in Omaha. Same. The amount that has happened under her watch that has been beneficial for urban Omaha has bee...

2024 U.S. Transportation Climate Impact Index
Streetlight put out a US Transportation Climate Impact Index, discussing the climate impact of transportation in the 100 largest US metro areas and Omaha does not fair very well by their analysis. They placed us at 99th. The only city worse than us was Augusta, GA. Our best category, oddly enough, w...

Highly unlikely. MLB teams are the most challenging for a city to maintain given the number of home games they play. And there are many other untapped markets the MLB could go to before Omaha.

I mentioned this in the other thread but I think there's a way to provide appropriate transit to this site.
