Re: Packaged Foods Discussion (Frozen, Canned, Shelf Stable, etc.)

Lol, I feel silly admitting it, but I just went to Walmart and I bought a handful of those Armour lunchable style snack things. They actually are a pretty handy snack. Definitely not a healthy thing to eat, but they come in handy to have in the fridge. Ham and cheese crackers, nachos, pepperoni pizz...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

I agree that a bus route makes the most sense. The streetcar going to the airport like others have mentioned is the wrong mode to be using. Pittsburgh has a dedicated bus route called the 28x Airport Flyer that I've used a few times when I didn't have a rental. It would be nice if Omaha had somethi...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

Mayor Stothert also mentioned on Grow Omaha that the Med Center was working with HDR to look at what the streetcar through the campus will look like, and that it will likely go to Saddle Creek. Maybe they'll get that figured out before that section starts so they don't have to terminate it at 39th ...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

I personally was more looking at airport transit as a solution for people coming and going from here, not those coming in from elsewhere. Either way, the bus route I indicated above gets that job done, and faster than a streetcar. Furthermore, one could be dropped off at Westroads, anywhere else alo...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

“Just run buses or shuttles.” This. The intent should be to get people easily from the airport to downtown. There are not developable opportunities due to jails, homeless shelters, a lake, and airport property itself. I really think we can meet our perceived "need" by running a regular bu...

Although I don't follow basketball much, it's good to see Creighton and Nebraska seeded pretty highly. I only watched one each of Nebraska and Creighton games and they were both pretty impressive. Looks like its setup that Creighton and Nebraska could face each other in the final 4. Now that's a gam...

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion

I'd be okay if they wanted to extend it to the airport by way of 16th street and Carter Lake. Streetcars aren't much of a transportation solution. They're good in the intimate streetscape level, but if you need to cover distance quickly, a streetcar ain't it. That's why I hope they aren't really con...

I don’t think it’s unpopular necessarily but a very costly extension that would be nice, but even if that ever did happen, it would be at least a decade or 2 away. Let's get that light rail plan started then... Streetcar is the least favorable option between the airport and Downtown. Light rail>reg...

From that photo, the transition looks a little more fluid than the rendering, so that's good. I still wish they ended up complementing the big bridge better. But functionally speaking, this is a plus.

Ah yeah, you're right. $900 wouldn't be bad at all. $1,500 definitely getting up there.

Yeah, this is pretty meh for a conference. Obviously not a bad thing to add 700 apartments, but I was really hoping for something big at 1416 Dodge. It always seems odd to me to convert an office building to apartments, but then again so is a hospital.

I'd say most of us would like to have the extra daylight to actually do stuff. You proved my point right there. I said it before, we don't gain an hour.
