Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)

For a $100 million investment by the City, its too bad there really is no public access to the building other than the parking garage. Seems like there should be some restaurant or retail bays, especially on the Farnam side where the streetcar will be. I get that there are some windows at street lev...

Re: Cornhusker Highway Between I-80 Exits

One reason this is not a loop is because US-6 only crosses I-80 once...at Waverly, not twice as has been discussed.. US-6 does not intersect with I-80 at the airport exit, it follows Sun Valley Boulevard down to O-St, over US 77 and continues west. The Cornhusker Hwy designation is just a local name...

In the US, BRT rarely means the efficient well designed systems found in Colombia, Mexico, etc. It's basically just buses with different branding. US BRT are talked about as bronze, silver, gold level. With ours almost certainly bronze. Features that make the difference between levels are Dedicated...

Re: Omaha B-Cycle (Bike Share Program)

i see two problems with this bike rental system...1) helmets. If i want to rent a bike impulsively, many times will not have a helmet handy. Would you rent a car without a seat belt? 2) availability of open stalls at checkin. What if I ride my bike to a specific station only to find no stalls availa...

Re: Downtown parking update?

It is great. All you do is type in the meter number into the app and select the time (you also have to enter credit card info the first time).

It sends you a text when your time is about to expire and you have the option to extend.

At this point, I am ASSUMING it met code. If it did not meet code, I'm sure it will come out in the insurance or media investigations. If it did not meet code and it wasn't exempt, which you seem to be concerned that's the case, then we have a CODE ENFORCEMENT problem, not a CODE problem. We can wri...

The buildings had sprinklers, they met code, and they worked. Other than knocking the idiot with the cigarette over the head for smoking on his balcony, which was prohibited, i don't see a need to modify building code. Sprinklers are not designed to put fires out. They are designed to give occupants...

it is currently scheduled for 2018. Not sure of length, but it will go over Lincoln Hwy, RR tracks, and creek, and come back to grade south of Blondo. The intersection of 180/Blondo will also be reconstructed. Total cost ~$30 million.
