Re: Mile Hill Lake in the Loess Hills south of Council Bluffs

Just north of there on 195th St is West Oak Forrest. A hidden gem of the area, as much of the parks and natural areas are up and down the Loess Hills.

Here is one website to track marine traffic.
https://www.marinetraffic.com/
There are other sites out there. Pretty simple, just zoom in on the Omaha area to see what's on the Missouri.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield

It has already been pretty busy there the last few weeks. I think a combination of spring break and people getting the vaccine. Lots of full flights. The TSA clocked 1.5 million passengers nationwide the other day with an upward trend.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield

I was looking at a trip to Atlanta this June and noticed that Delta has 737's flying to/from OMA-ATL on all their nonstop flights on the board. Not sure if that's due to the pandemic and/or they've reduced flights, but Covid may have killed off the MDs sooner than anticipated. Also, WN is running a...

Unfortunately, people still drive like maniacs on Platteview Rd. Had someone pass me right after the highschool on a double yellow in the 45 zone, going at least 15 over.

Re: US 75/34 (Kennedy Freeway) Plattsmouth to Bellevue

The 75/34 junction is not good. I can't believe they did the intersection that way as it's going to have to be redone, especially as the buildup of that area continues. Many cars coming eastbound on 34 don't slow down and visibility is not good looking west on 34 from the western most 75 exit/on ram...

Re: Touch and Gos at Epply.

The Offutt jets regularly use Eppley as an airport to practice at. There are different approaches and runways to use compared to Offutt. In addition, military crews from around the country will use Eppley as a cross country airport due to the proximity to the city. Not uncommon to see T-1, T-6, and ...

Re: Possibly moving to the Omaha area (been there before)

I can't answer most of your questions, but I will say that you will love the cheaper cost of living, no traffic (compared to SoCal), and the space! Having worked with a number of friends who were transported from California to Omaha, come with an open mind. There is a ton to do, even outdoors stuff....

Re: McKenna's Blues, Booze and BBQ - CLOSING

I went there in July. Place was pretty empty around dinnertime on a weekday. Food was nothing to write home about and I got the feeling that if the place was busier on a daily basis, it would be better. It wasn't bad, just your average meal. The server we had on the other hand, was probably one of t...

When I was in college (1999-ish) and hanging out in the OM, there was a security guard/cop guy down there (it was always unclear of which one he was), but everyone called him "Soul Train Bob."  He would bounce from bar to bar checking on things.  Is that him?  African-American guy with a ...

Re: South Highway 75/Missouri River Bridge Construction

Part of the new road is open. You can take the 4 lane down to Harlan Lewis, but not yet to the bridge. Google Maps has it listed at Hwy 34/Platteview Rd. Also, you cannot get to LaPlatte from Harland Lewis/Laplatte Rd any longer. They blocked off the road at the railroad tracks. The only way to get ...

I grew up in NE Illinois and frequently drove in Chicago and the surrounding area.  Omaha is GREAT compared to there.  We have it easy here.   I do avoid the interstate and surrounding during the rush-hour.  I don't have patience anymore for sitting in traffic. Funny thing I noticed was in Illin...

Sports equipment and hockey rinks

Two questions.  Are there any stores in Omaha that sell used sports equipment?   Saw there was a play it again sports in Lincoln, but didn't see anything closer.  Also, does the city or any suburb make any ice rinks in the winter?  Where I grew up, the city would put up boards and freeze the ten...
