I could certainly expense my mileage for driving from one location to another, but it's my responsibility to make sure I can perform my job adequately. And that means having a car that I can use to get to our data centers in a quick, timely fashion at (unfortunately) any time, day or night. Not th...

I think we can all agree on one thing: Contemporary country music is the absolute worst thing on the planet. I would set a flock of polar bears on fire if it meant never having to listen to that |expletive| ever again. It seems you and I can't seem to agree on much of anything. Oh by the way - this...

Re: Bring back dwarf tossing to boost the economy ...
As I understand it, it's the dwarfs who were asking for the law to be repealed. Â They had been making good money at this until someone (not a dwarf) decided it was demeaning.

The only one that makes sense is Ron Paul. If your issue is the economy - Ron Paul saw the crash coming and what caused it. He knows what to do to reverse it. He is also an economist. Anyone else will need economic advisers. Do want a student, or a teacher? If your issue is the war (looking at you,...

Transportation habits are clearly a hot button issue, so much so that this topic seems to get hijacked anew every day. Melissa is correct that many people won't volunteer their car away, and the debate over the merits of the invention of the automobile are either a fruitless distraction or pernic...

GOP Primary Race
Here's an interesting bit of news to start this discussion, according to polling data on RealClearPolitics.com, the front-runner in Nebraska, with 30% of the anticipated vote, is Herman Cain. Shall we start a discussion on the various candidates? I'm hoping this can be an intelligent discussion. ...

It won’t be long before legions of photographers, bloggers and mainstream journalists document what has to be the biggest thing to hit Omaha since the Great Flood of 1881. So, then does the security guard come out and threaten to arrest them? And does the photographer then imagine racism and go int...

Face it. Your whole lifestyle, of which you are so protective, has been handed to you by the government by way of its housing, energy, and transportation policies over the last 80 years. Your lifestyle, like those of the other hundreds of millions of American suburbanite motorists, is an artificial...

We can't rely on what we think people would prefer if it continues to send us closer to the poor house. Frankly, even if it was unanimous that everyone wanted a 15k sq ft lot on a culdesac reasonable public policy would have to deny that desire. Fact is at some point we will have to make other mo...

I try to be a good cyclist, but I won't try to say I obey every traffic control to the letter of the law. I always stop at traffic lights, and will wait for it to change to green unless there is no traffic and no cars in my direction to trigger it. I usually treat stop signs as a yield sign (whic...

Look, can we all just agree that biking is becoming a much more popular way for people to get around town, not just recreate. The more people do this, especially in snowy months, it is imperative to have a traffic infrastructure to handle them. This is as much preventative as it is aspirational. ...
