Sorry, I meant the left green and the right green.... Even closed that motel land holds a certain value. I know the supreme court says it's OK too grab, but those are less than necessarily blighted... LOL. Even empty. Ugly, but very valuable. I agree misused. Reality sets in and great corners often ...

24th and Vinton
Hey -
Does anyone know what is planned for the SW corner of 24th and Vinton?
It's was previously a KFC. The old building has been razed and the land has been completely regraded.
Thanks.

I am not one for conspiracy theories. However the city claimed the damage was a mistake. If they don't want to appear like they are up to something underhanded they need to leave this alone until Mr. Pane's case with them is finished and he has a chance to restore his property. The remaining front s...

Thanks for the posts. I'm sure your right about the levy situation. Early in this thread it was mentioned that this idea was considered and dropped. I hope that means that it might be possible in the future. I personaly would enjoy it. As long as it didn't hold up any of the other great planned proj...

Let me throw a question out here. If only some of the suggested changes could be made over the next 5-10 years what would be the improvements you would most like to see? Mine are... The plan to open up the northwest corner of the park. The plan to build a new pedestrian bridge from 11th St. to the n...

I'm surprised that that hotel couldn't do the business, given it's location and all. They used to do a fair business with their meeting rooms I thought. The hotels along 72nd St. used to serve visitors heading for the races and events at Aksarben. Due to it's location they have all survived the tra...

I always thought that closing off vehicle traffic on Howard St at 24th would help improve it's safety and desirability. It needn't be permanent. It has helped the 24th and Jones St. location (near the Rorick Tower). Planters would be more attractive then the concrete blocks they used there but drug ...

30 or 40 years from now we who are still around will possibly be talking about that tired old mall sitting right in the middle of the city.... Nebraska Crossing... On page 6 OmahaChef was speaking of the discustion about the name North Downtown... Here's my thoughts. I imagine when the development progresses and a small group decides the name without the publics input... the name discussions will slow or even at some point stop. Right now IS the time for it. N...

Unlike the Center and Southroads malls it keeps a prime well traveled location at the hart of a large population. You can add Midlands Mall? (I think that was the name) in downtown CB to that list. As the area's demographics change - IE lower, it will have too change as well. It is, has and I think ...

Unless there is a dramatic difference between that rendering and the completed building, that is one of the most out of place, inappropriate designs I have ever seen for new construction. It is completely out of place for the Old Market. Even the color scheme looks bad. I have no problem with the p...

I'm glad none of the plans call for raising the park level up to street. It was a great idea to give the park a sense of peace. Separated from the street noise and traffic. Taking down the walls and the other ideas put forth to improve on the 80's original design will make the park feel safer and mo...

By the way are we going to call the new Latin based 24th St area MEXDO? After we grab them up can we look forward to a ELKDO? May be a MILDO? How about we use our brains and some of our actual city history to give this emerging area a fresh name that has everything to do with it and not what lies WA...

When we sunk millions into the Civic Auditorium and then went with the Quest Center it made some sense. We have seen some bang for our waisted bucks. We have sunk millions into R. Stadium to secure the CWS contract. That also made sense. Now the Royals want a smaller newer stadium? Anyone here notic...

That is Omaha and in this way we may have already passed up KC. Even with their larger Metro Population. Influence isn't tied to population necessarily. What do you mean? KC has it's own sphere of influence as a more dominant regional city. I just meant that population isn't everything and that is ...

It is fun to include Lincoln in our metro area. This is a fun forum so what's the harm? The official metro population is set in Washington not here. Seems both sides of this win. I have to disagree with Raraavis. This would put our city on the tourism map in a way that everything else we are doing never will. I love and support the plan for the pedestrian bridge. It will not however be significant enough to draw tourists away from Chicago, Minneapolis, or Denver. Barring the...
