Re: Lincoln Convention Center
Thanks for posting that. The best location would be on the canopy site or post office by the arena (highly doubt this could be pulled off). However, this Gold’s proposal looks so good I hope that it gets chosen and brings some momentum back to the O street area.

Re: Miracle Hills Park (NW Corner 114 & Dodge)
I wonder how many restaurants have been in and out of Miracle Hills Park? I can think of Stokes, Taj, Boston Market, HuHot, Cilantro's, Hong Kong Cafe, DJ's Dugout (wasn't there a dueling piano bar inside DJ's?)... Yes, and before DJ's it was called "The Scorecard". There was also a subwa...

Not getting the best vibes from Ewing about building on the momentum we've got going right now. Greg Agreed. I'll wait until he says a little more. I'm hoping someone better than both comes forward. Because as much as I am not a huge fan of Stothert at least she wasn't completely blocking that mome...

Not saying that it won't do well, but I don't think Great Wolf will be happy about it. For sure. Interesting timing that this gets announced pretty soon after Bellevue's. Are indoor waterparks the next car washes? I feel like indoor recreation has seen a revival even in Omaha. Now this is a trend I...

Re: Lincoln: NCAA Basketball Tournament Bid
Lincoln's arena would be fine for this event but they seem short on hotel rooms especially full-service hotel rooms. Also their airport hardly has any flight choices. The fun area around the arena would be a big selling point, however. Are they short on the required rooms any longer? There have bee...

Back to the Big 10 tournament for a moment. Obviously, the tournament's primary locations have been Indy and Chicago and been successful in both places. I think going forward you will still see an occasional trip out east since the BIg 10 has eastern time zone schools. I also think it will end up i...

But nowhere near beautiful as a truly beautiful building. I guess lucky for us: Beauty is not objective. There may be general consensus, especially around a style like say Baroque or Gothic... Apparently I’m not the only one on here that thinks this new structure detracts from the existing look of the Holland Center. The new building boxes the Holland in, where before it was clearly visible from the east. Its 2024, we have the best economy according to media experts  Best enjoy the ...

Sort of surprised by the level of skepticism or cynicism if these are the right words. I don't always express my views here because I feel like I am often the cynic. My view on this one, for whatever it's not worth, is that this is a very important development. It is one of the grains of sand neede...

Re: Downtown Development Update from City Hall on 3/14/24
Still pretty impressive that they will add over 700 units. And the city is building a parking garage on the west side of the block and NuStyle will build apts on top of that. They said a 500-ish parking garage. On that small space, plus that 150 apartments, it should be in the 8-10 range based on t...

700 apartments. Is this a guess or…? 350 on the left and 350 on the right. Roughly. Central Park Plaza renovation? I don't see why the city hall would announce this project, but maybe. 400+ Omaha, 1500+ BOTW employees terminated to date and it’ll end up being over 500 or 600 local Omahans at the end of May. Essentially any operations that were based out of Omaha have transitioned. The business park I anticipate being sold in the next three years. There’s no plan to expand or reta...

2. I find the location very curious. It’s tucked basically into an invisible spot that not even neighboring subdivisions can see, much less traffic on highways 75 or 34. That intersection can be scary to use right now, even in broad daylight. It was atrociously “designed”. It should have been a ful...
