Interesting, GetUrban. That makes perfect sense (getting things to code before the city even annexes). I'm glad to learn this stuff. Up until now, all I knew was simply excitement seeing bulldozers etching streets and moving land, and thinking "Yeah! New homes are going in." Now I know mor...

Re: If The North Freeway Was Extended to I-680...

Mrsticka: I really like your plan/idea. I just would rather have an I-680/I-80-like interchange. Clover-leaf interchanges aren't my favorite. I was looking at the tall hills south of I-680 around 60th-65th, and you could almost tunnel a freeway through them. I know tunnels are not a common Omaha thi...

Re: Ponca Hills

I agree. I don't like split-entry, smaller homes tightly surrounding the borders of damsite/lake like that either. I watched the first phase of those homes go in back around 1989-1994. I remember empty streets w/ the first batch of houses. That's when I learned about Celebrity Homes. The second phas...

REAL ESTATE MARKET: Omaha

I was talking to two people today regarding real estate in Omaha. I've heard it is quite a seller's market. If somebody puts their used home up for sale, I hear it sells basically in a "snap of a finger." If you're trying to buy a used home, I hear you're up against many aggressive potenti...

This seems pretty easy. It's just east of 16th street. There's open land there, but the highway would need to be elevated due to some trains. Also I would never drive on this road. http://i.imgur.com/n0FB8pV.jpg That's the actual plan...isnt it? It honestly isn't that far-off from just taking I-29 ...

These weren't classic Supercell Tornadoes, they were spin-ups along a Bow Echo. Most of the time a Bow Echo reduces the threat of a tornado and shifts it to a straight line wind threat, so this was a fairly unusual event. It seems like we usually get a handful Bow Echos a year, but this is the firs...

It is going to be nice when they finally connect the North Freeway with I-680. The North Freeway has always felt like a "dead end street" to me -- however the Storz Expressway and Sorensen Parkway help relieve that feeling in a way (in my perspective). I hate being in Northwest Omaha, wan...

Sometimes I wish I-29 ran through Nebraska instead of Iowa. I've said that before, but it is true. Too many bridges south of Omaha.
