Oh come on, you don't live that sheltered a life do you? Welcome to average household America. That said, if our cities were better planned, and we weren't building houses and businesses in the middle of nowhere (such as where karate kid here and myself live), maybe we could all use mass transit mor...

General Qwest concert seating question
About how far back would row 34 be on the main floor in an end stage concert at Qwest? Would that be towards the back? Middle? Front?

Am I missing something or couldn't this be considered a win/win situation? Increased flights to OMA/MCI, and larger planes heading to DIA after the short drive down I-80 from G.I. to Kearney. Exactly. At first I thought they were only going to have service to Omaha, but again, aside from internatio...

Once upon a time, highly ranked Nebraska was beaten by an average Colorado team, 62-36. Shortly after, they were clobbered by Miami 37-14 in the Rose Bowl. While there is little in common between that team and this one, there may be one thing: both hadn't been tested by a strong opponent. Go Big Red!

For me 'small town feel' is as simple as the amount of time it takes to get to a beltway. It can take as long in larger cities to just do that, as it takes to traverse the entire metro of Omaha. Of course it's all relative. And there are plenty of mom and pop shops in bigger cities, it may just be h...

If scenic is wall to wall corn, then Iowa wins hands down. Fortunately, Nebraska still has some NATURAL scenery left. And maybe some day Iowa will have a National Scenic River like Nebraska. ;) http://static.flickr.com/49/179084089_2bf70340ed.jpg http://icons.wunderground.com/data/wximagenew/d/dizzy...

Big 12 sidenote, did anyone notice that Chadron State (aka the school which was nearly burned by a prairie file a while back) knocked off Montana State, the team which upset Colorado last week? Now if Colorado ends up beating NU, then Chadron State can claim to be the best team in Nebraska. That IS,...

From my own obeservation, the ranking of States by # of Liscense Plates in Omaha goes like this: Not to change the subject, but how could you have missed all of the South Dakota plates here? Surely they must rank 2nd behind Iowa. I think I've seen more NORTH Dakota plates than most of these other s...

 I DO agree with icejammer that Omaha didn't necessarily have to be here for a casino or two to be built in Council Bluffs (there are plenty of considerably smaller towns in Iowa which also have casinos, yet no large adjacent 'market'). But I don't really think this is a question worth dwelling...

True DTO Luv, but the harm is already being done. We already have casinos in Omaha. We just aren't seeing any revenue in return for being burdened with the negative effects we're already experiencing. Iowa can tap into those gambling revenues to fund it's addiction programs, etc. What can we tap int...

I'm not admonishing CB for raking in Omaha/Nebraska dollars. I think it was brilliant on their part (Iowa was a pioneer in bringing in casinos to help subsidize government spending). Indeed, CB should be proud of what it's accomplished with our money. I just think it's time for Nebraska to act to st...

Although I don't believe the planning board has yet incorporated any of the recommendations made by the Omaha by Design study, into Omaha's zoning/development codes. The actions taken in arm twisting Walmart at the Ranch Bowl site were largely the result of Omaha by Design arm twisting the planning ...

I've already stated that the CB casinos thrive because of the Omaha presence. However, Omaha has little to nothing to do with their coming into existance. Well that's one way successfully argue your point. Argue against the unintended (and obviously irrelevant) one. Who cares what the reason is for...

My mistake. I admit it, I'm not a big gambler. Horseshoe replaced Bluffs Run, rather than supplementing it, huh? I guess that just makes it even more impressive, 40% of the revenue from 1/5th the states casinos. Come on icejammer, I have been over there enough to see the license plates. At least 80%...

I'm not sure what the relevance of all this is. The facts remain impressive: Council Bluffs accounts for 4 of Iowa's 15 casinos, no other city has half as many. Council Bluffs is home to the state's two top grossing casinos (Horseshoe and Ameristar) Gross revenues for Council Bluffs casinos was $43 ...

It does seem funny the article doesn't mention that the amount is coincidentally rather close to what is needed for the pedestrian bridge. This isn't taxpayer money either. Sigerson and Vokal whine about how they can't spend any taxpayer money on the bridge, well here is their opportunity to not spe...
