Re: Gene Leahy Mall Remodel

I really like this piece, but I'm worried about the possibility of vandalism or even accidental damage. I know it's made of metal, but it still looks fragile. Imagine children hanging from it.

Those outhouses were removed many years ago. It's true that Lake Cunningham was a well-known gay hook up place back in the day.

I really wanted to love it, but I just don't like the way it totally hides the newer, architecturally significant Scott Pavilion Addition that has become such a part of the Joslyn experience, at least in this view.

Re: The Omaha World Herald

I got my bill yesterday. Price went up from $167 to $213 for 13 weeks! I tried to call for an explanation and possible price negotiation, but the estimated call wait time was 26 minutes and I didn't have the time. They will be hearing from me, but I feel like they've got me over a barrel. This after...

Stamp Collection Value

My mother passed away a couple years ago, and I inherited her stamp collection. She was a postmaster in rural Nebraska so she got involved with the USPS Commemorative Stamp Club so most everything is in good shape and in albums. Anyone here know a reputable place/person to learn the value of the col...

Paying for water at restaurants

How prevalent is having to pay for a glass of water at area restaurants? A friend recently told me that Danny's Bar and Grill charges $1 for a glass of water with a meal. I don't think I've ever had to pay for a glass of water. I do think it is becoming more common that restaurants do not provide wa...

Bank of the West recently completed their new building on Northwest Radial and have torn down the old, much larger structure behind it.  There is still construction equipment there.  Anyone know what is going to be done with that property?  It sure has changed the look of that area.

There were two adults soaring in circles above my northwest Omaha home last week.  They were fairly low in the sky, too, so got a good look.  I yelled to my neighbors to take a look, but by then they had drifted out of my sight.
