I was originally more trying to be a smartass but I linked that since you posted back being an |expletive|. categorizing it as pearl clutching was just dumb. Also you can click the DOI link for the study, and yes, like all studies not perfect and has limitations (they acknowledged they would have li...

Re: UNO Hockey 2023-2024
Lindenwood would be interesting for NCHC, would have four larger cities (STL, OMA, DEN, PHX) in their market then. Unfortunately, I'd leave both Alaskas alone, they're struggling internally with all athletic programs and I hate to say it but it's a money vacuum and doesn't add any stature to the lea...

Re: UNO Hockey 2023-2024
That is dumb, Omaha gets the only teams not in their time zone let alone area. I don't like the pods. Let's have the NCHC get a 10th team to even it out, bring Air Force in or Mankato in, bring in some old rivalries. Omaha also has direct flights to the other western schools.

I've seen lots of people |expletive| talk the new teams but honestly don't know how the Big 12 couldn't have landed it any better. Four huge media markets and BYU's a national brand. Good on them for staying afloat, I'm curious if they will go for Arizona or ASU...ASU has that midwest connection wit...

Re: UNO's Baxter Arena running huge losses...
It seems one of the main problems stems from projections on arena profits, that being said, who is making these projections? Baxter is not an isolated incident in the area let alone the country, for cities and teams building arenas and falling way under projected revenue. There is an epidemic of thi...
Re: 2016 CWS
Here's another question: Why is the College World Series in June? Why not have the college baseball season start in April and go into June. And then have the conference tournaments and NCAA playoffs in June and July? And then have the College World Series in August? The way I see it: Baseball is a ...
Re: 2016 CWS
The bats obviously had an impact, but you can not ignore how differently TD plays vs most stadiums in college baseball. Through out the CWS one big point of conversation was should teams do what got them to the CWS vs adjust their game to suit how TD plays. OK so there's been one CWS homer to dead ...
Re: 2016 CWS
But the 2 parks don't play the same. We changed the orientation of the field (so the ball going with and against the wind is different), plus Rosenblatt was up on the hill, where as TD is sunk down low. Even with the new bats, Rosenblatt was fine. With the new baseball TD had more runs last year bu...
Re: TD Ameritrade Park Omaha
The "if needed game" point is valid, but there have been plenty of "if needed" games over the years. I can't remember a single one prior to this that had an announced attendance at 40% of the ballparks capacity. 2012, Thursday June 21st had a 12,295 game. 2010, Saturday June 26t...
Re: 2016 CWS
I find it kind of funny how much backlash there is for an event that was still fun for the games I went to. Yes they can always do things better and there are legitimate gripes, communication and weather can always be tough but again, that's a legitimate complaint. But for attendance it wasn't that ...

I saw highlights from this tournament in Russian and one other venue and it looked packed. They should...

Surprise!
But seriously this kind of makes me upset, I wanted this to work, I want people to come to these games, they were fun, I know why Omahans have trouble investing in something they know may fail, but it's that thinking that helps them fail. Oh well, football can hold off for a while.

I like that stat and I think it's good for Omaha and all, but anyone who has been to a game knows they don't average anywhere near 17,000. Last year, multiple games I went to saw the lower part 3/4 full and the upper part 1/2 at times. It was bad. But every game I went to they somehow announces 15K+

Yes! These two teams have been slower than the others but my god, last nights problem was the coach not giving the catcher signs. They have to make that illegal in the game somehow that Top of the 9th was unbearable.

Creighton has very little business being ranked top 25 right now. I know it's good for Omaha and all but outside of 6 solid minutes against OU, they have played poorly the last two games. 21-56 against OU and 18-51 against North Carolina Central. Ouch. They have a lot of work to do before conference...

For the people who mentioned Red Sky, I don't think it failed so much as it was way too ambitious for a start out. All the other festivals and big concerts start small, one day, big headliners, maybe two days, and build from there. I think each of the headliners in the ballpark each night (minus 311...

With Nebraska on the bye, I was surprised to see them jump Michigan St after their loss to Ohio St. Because of the head-to-head I think Michigan St still should have sat one over Nebraska, at least until after the Wiscy game this weekend. I love the Mavs, I go to games all the time and cheer my heart out, that being said, the team is extremely young and they have done nothing the past couple of years to prove they should be ranked. It looks like ticket sales are terrible, but something tells me the league knew what they were getting into. Love Zombo voted as a captain. There's tons of freshmen, but a lot of really good freshmen. As always with a young team, they tend to play to their competition, so we could see a huge upside. Sadly, we could also see them just get their arses kicked all year. Hoping UNO pulls a magical season out th...

As for the argument on the failure rate of minor league football, the only reason I think this league could go somewhere is getting official NFL support and endorsement, which if happens, would be all a big part of future success. That being said, schedule is out. http://www.fxfl.com/schedule/"...
