Tradition part of magic for CWS, Omaha

College baseball coaches across the country don't have to prepare any long inspirational speeches before the start of each season. They only need to say one word.

Omaha.

Mayors are often sneaky (for lack of a better word) because some people would rather save 1 penny today only to pay 5 dollars more tomorrow.  You know the people who drive 8 miles out of their way each time they fill up their tank just so that they can save 3 cents per gallon.  Many of these peopl...

My two favorites were easily the black and white "AIR CONDITIONED" and the shot of the nearly completed death star....I mean research facility.  Looking at it immediately reminded me of star wars return of the jedi.  For that very cool!!!

Majestic Pointe mixed use developement

okay okay now that we are all done laughing at the name......okay who am I kidding......I am still laughing.....okay my initial take on this one is that the street grid is a bit better than the lot of other MU developments.  (a bit)  I do question the need for all of the speed bumps.  Why don't t...

and without Mr. Harper (if I am correct) it would have ended 2 blocks further east and it would have still been a killer shot by DTO.

Yeah we really screwed the pooch but hey DTO took another really nice shot and let's celebrate that rather than dilute it with atrocities of the past.

Are you sure that on street parking along with 3 sided buildings that have minimum set back lines are not part of OBD?  When I was reading the city council notes for Rainwood Pointe they sure made it sound like it was.  Check that one out.  Maybe it's just a suggestion though???  I'll read throu...

While they city council notes state that the city is going to make them meet the OBD requirements, it appears by the site plan that it is not really case.  I don't see any on street parking which I thought was a big part of the new requirements.   It does appear there will be 5-6 story condo tower...

It appears that the mixed use area is growing by 2 acres.  It now totals 12 acres.  It looks as if they have a lot of work to do still before the city will approve.  It is good to finally see the new OBD requirements in the city council agenda.   http://www.ci.omaha.ne.us/departments/city_counci...

I would think they could always lower 12th street and have it run under the stadium.  I think a street runs under the convention center in Phoenix.  They probably wouldn't do it in this day and age since we are sooooo paranoid of terrorists.  Could be an option.

And as far as the 3 acre McMansions, they may ruin the country in your eyes, but they also are the people paying for your downtown baseball stadium, Qwest Center, and eventually the light rail that the very people that despise them will use. I know it is a hard-hitting admission, but ain't that Ame...

Don't misread my optimism.  This sucks compared to what we should have had with our mixed use areas (based on the work that Omaha by Design did).  Since things are what they are, I am trying to look for the positives.  I am concerned that if we do a half-rear mixed-use area and it flops because t...

I think streets mentioned this before.  They should save the building and use it as a base for a much taller building.  I have seen it done in San Diego.  The stripped the old building down to the exterior walls and then build new inside and on top of the original.  It can be done and I think wo...

Southwest of 174th and Maple.   48 acres of including 64 single-family lots & 330 multi-family units.  7.6 acres of mixed use including 42 residential units. The mixed use area seems like it will consist of mostly 3 story buildings with parking underneath.  Ground floor is retail with either ...

According to the paper it is to be torn down along with nearly 50 other structures.  In it's present shape it is indeed an eyesore.  Take off the vinyl siding and voila you may just have a nice brick building behind there.  I would think it would make a great bar or restaurant overlooking the new...

I realize that the master plan calls for it.  The master plan did not call for the stadium to be in lot D though.  With that and an expanded Qwest, I hope that they don't seal off the ped bridge from Webster street.  At the least visually but even more importantly from accessibility.  I too thin...

The reason it was such a problem for the Hannah Montana concert is that too many parents these days cannot and will not let their children be disappointed.  Imagine the horror if a kid didn't get what they wanted.   DTO is not DTSF or DTC?  Does that make it not as good.  There are some things a...
