A short storm rolled through the twin cities last night at twilight. I heard there were sightings of a DOUBLE RAINBOW in Northeast. This is currently Grace Apostolic Church, located at 2216 Military Avenue in Omaha.  It was formerly "Miltary Theatre".  According to Cinema Treasures , The Military was open in the early 30's with seating listed at 953. Goldberg Theatres was the operator until it closed in 1964. http://...

That's my old stomping grounds.  I second going to Chicago Dawg.  Also, check out Heron Haven. It's a  wetland preserve on the NE corner of 120th & Maple.  Maplewood Lanes @ 102nd & Maple has decent (though pricey) bowling.  Valentino's has a good buffet (also 102nd & Maple).

What neighborhood did you live in?   These days over by MIA it's "okay", a bit dicey but I wouldn't call it dangerous.

I'll definitely look for that sculpture the next time I go there.

bradley414, knitter than I am, those shots remind me of novelty yarn used in scarves. :) Cool.  I hope I can have  some buildings for a backdrop. I think we'll be out on Nicollet Island on the river. Not sure yet.

One Christmas Eve around '79 or '80 we walked out of a midnight mass in Lyons, Nebraska and it was snowing.  I don't recall if it amounted to much but I remember how serendipitous that moment was, seeing the falling snow glimmer against the backdrop of a church on Christmas Eve.
