I think it's too bad the date for this event is on the same day as the final round of competition at the Cox Classic.

Omaha 7th Best Big City in America!

According to the article in CNNMoney.com http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag ... ml?cnn=yes

Best places to live in America and Omaha ranks #7 among big cities. I was surprised to find us categorized as a "big" city, but I'll take it!

Congratulations everyone!

The Omaha Jaycees have been known to take member trips from time to time. Around 15 of us went to St. Louis for a Cubs v. Cards game a number of years ago. The great thing about the Jaycees is you can choose the destination and submit the project for the leadership to vote on and then chair the proj...

I'll just point out you're both complaining about economics as opposed to geography. None of that stuff happens in my "neighborhood" either. -Big E You might see it that way and quite possibly, economics are a byproduct of the issue. I would have loved to stay in a more affordable area an...

Many SID's purposefully keep their debt high so as to avoid annexation. It doesn't always work, but it is a practice many engage in to avoid annexation. I would assume this is the case for the 78th & Sorenson example noted earlier. The big picture however, is that all SID's know they will eventu...

WPS has announced they will keep the Mutual employees in the South Tower after the transition for the Medicare business. This is odd to me as they have celebrated how much they own their own buildings. I would still be suspicious of them bailing out of Omaha upon the completion of whatever short-ter...

MoO has plenty of issues and I'd agree they will drop out of the Fortune 500 soon. They will be losing almost 1,000 jobs as of next year as well when the Medicare contract is turned over. They cut a deal with WPS that as soon as a contract is awarded to their joint effort, the employees will then no...

Omaha on list of fastest growing cities in U.S.

According to an article on CNN-Money, Omaha is ranked 60th on the list of fastest growing cities. I'd say we're accelerating as well.

Sorry - I should have posted the link for my reasoning on why Horseman's will be exempt... The council is set to vote today on Thompson's plan. I think it's funny that some people would potentially avoid a home in a great neighborhood with everything they may want, but oops, wait a second... the street name isn't pretty. There must be more serious issues to consider than the aesthetics of street names.

I still see some myopia when it comes to business investment and development of property in the responses being made here. Thank you HskrFanMike for the defense. I do think some of the respondants wanted to engage this as a battle between surburbia and dowtown advocates. I made an attempt to establish that I'm NOT against downtown development, merely wanted to find out why a business would be motivated to do so. This is...

Why build downtown?

This will probably illicit flames in mass, but I'm really interested in hearing why everyone thinks it's so great to build downtown.
