98.5's morning show.  They were talking about the ballpark and the bridge and some random guy called and claimed to know someone whose mom is in the know.  I didn't put much stock into it, but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone had heard anything from other sources.

I figured it was BS, but thought I'd check.  As to contractual obligations, we all know those aren't really that big of deal.  They are probably bonded, so the city would have some recourse, but you can't make a contractor continue working if they don't want to.

-That makes no sense.  We spend $125M to keep a $3M revenue stream?  Thus, assuming NO additional costs and NO inflation, it takes 42 years to pay it off.  And you think that is smart for the city? That said, the calculation would need to be more complicated than that.  However, this is what sc...

Just a couple points.  First, let me say that I am absolutely fine with the 2% tax to pay for this ballpark.  The cost of losing the CWS is far greater than 2% extra tax on discretionary income.  However, as someone else pointed out, we don't need to raise taxes $38,000,000 if we lose the CWS.  ...

Lower drinking age (19 or 20)(I'm sure this is the most controversial)
This is a White House issue, unless Nebraska can live without federal highway money, which is tied to having a drinking age of 21 in the state.

Property needs to be assessed based on its actual value.  The value an owner places on the property when they are selling property is not necessarily the actual value.

It is their property and they can ask what they want - but it doesn't mean that is what the property is worth.

I'm not complaining at all. Frankly, I don't really care much that this element is on 16th Street. However, you can't expect 16th Street to develop into a retail/restaurant district unless things change.
