Someone called into a radio show I was listening to this morning and claimed to have some inside info about this project being stalled out because of budget problems. Â He basically said the contractor was way over budget and wasn't doing anymore work and this is going to litigation. Â Is there any ...

-That makes no sense. Â We spend $125M to keep a $3M revenue stream? Â Thus, assuming NO additional costs and NO inflation, it takes 42 years to pay it off. Â And you think that is smart for the city? That said, the calculation would need to be more complicated than that. Â However, this is what sc...

Just a couple points. Â First, let me say that I am absolutely fine with the 2% tax to pay for this ballpark. Â The cost of losing the CWS is far greater than 2% extra tax on discretionary income. Â However, as someone else pointed out, we don't need to raise taxes $38,000,000 if we lose the CWS. Â ...

Isn't the NCAA playing basketball in the Qwest Center this year? Â I remember going to a Creighton NCAA tournament game in the United Center. Â I think the Final Four was in the Edward Jones Dome not that long ago. Â Unless they are going to have a special rule for this stadium, they've never had a ...

I read somewhere that they intended to stay until the end of their lease in 2011. Â This is a dumb idea. Â I would bet that Children's is willing to pay to move them now and they should jump on it. Â Soon there will be demolition and construction all around them and business is certain to take a div...

What is derogatory about it? Â It says Omaha is trying to shed its cow town image. Â Not sure what's derogatory about that. Â We did have the largest stockyards in the world at one time and still have numerous meatpacking plants in South Omaha. I think you would have a hard time convincing a judge o...

I don't see anything righteous about bringing a lawsuit based on a company's opinion. Â Since when is an opinion something that should be subject to a lawsuit? That may be the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard. Â So where is there a express or implied factual statement that is incorrect and that would make this a defamation situation? Coming from the West Coast, you might be surprised that you don't need to send your kids to private schools for them to get a great education. How many fewer people live within 1 mile of 16th street downtown v. 1 mile of the current Wohlner's or a Wohlner's in Ak Village? It's not even close. Also, Brandeis is basically empty, Wallstreet's future is questionable, Paxton isn't sold out. Maybe when all of these buildings are full a store cou...

Exactly - they denied a license to a business that has had admitted problems in the past and are giving a license to a new business that has not had any problems. The problem is, most people aren't home in their condo during the day so daytime traffic really doesn't matter when deciding where to live. Would you rather be in the Paxton or JLofts, which are 2-3 blocks closer to the OM with much more nighttime foot traffic, or on 16th Street which is pretty much...
