Re: Attitude about your state
Our Des Moines/Iowa pride was greatly amplified in the mid-2000s with the arrival of our own snarky retailer...Raygun. It has grown to four stores...Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Kansas City. https://www.raygunsite.com/ https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0690/5113/products/173_54da4d0874936...

I won't get too excited until construction begins...but we have news on the 32-story proposal with movie theater (Main Street Theaters): Downtown high rise advances with $107 million price tag in Des Moines http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/money/business/development/2016/04/25/downtown-high-ri...

Few are actually complaining at this point. The project was improved and now allows for a future expansion to fill in the lot along 4th Street. Originally, the lot took much more real estate on the block. Most are super excited about this addition downtown. Usually the first question I get about liv...

We are on cloud nine in Des Moines today! $85 Million 32-story mixed-use tower featuring a movie theater and luxury apartments on the current site of the 5th and Walnut Garage. If I were to set up shop in Omaha, it would have probably been the Old Market (maybe someday we will!). Â Foot traffic is essential and it's well established there. Â We are on facebook too, which is more updated than our website (http://www.facebook.com/jettandmonkey).

As an owner of a dog supply shop (http://www.jettandmonkey.com) in the East Village in downtown Des Moines, I must say that Three Dog Bakery is a great addition to MTC. Â The only bad thing about that place is they don't carry other brands of dog foods, which does put them at a disadvantage. Â I'm s...

I'd have to agree with the sentiment on the obelisk. Â It looks generic. Â This is a picture of a the Prairie Tower in Urbandale. Â It rises 120 ft. tall in the Paragon Office Park off of I-80/35 in the NW suburbs of Des Moines. Â What's wierd is that this office park is very generic and so far has...

Although it is ridiculous to call Council Bluffs the economic center of SW Iowa... Omaha is of course, the economic center. I really doubt it's some conspiracy by the IDOT to slight Omaha. Â If that was the case, they wouldn't list it at all. Â The state determines control cities for signage. Â Council Bluffs is obviously a major city in Iowa (as it's in the top 10...and the second largest city in Western Iowa). Â In add...
