Re: New Minneapolis Stadiums

We got by for 30 years on the cheap with the Metrodome, but we are definitely paying for it now. The financing of pro sports stadiums is crazy. I agree with you that the Timberwolves and the Wild should be able to share a stadium. The Vikings and Gophers could not come to a deal because the Gophers ...

Gone but not forgotten. Mainly I've been transporting my 4 kids around the Twin Cities to their various activities. I've been reading the topics consistently the past few years and do get down to Omaha at least once a year still. Its really impressive what's been going on down there development wise...

Here is a link to a virtual fly-through of the new Vikings stadium and also another link to additional exterior and interior renderings. What's most exciting is the $400 million downtown east development in front of the stadium which has also broke ground. This project includes a 4 acre urban park, ...

That's right.  The Vikings do not have a stadium site, but are paying for a study in downtown Minneapolis in the area around the Metrodome.  It will be a hard sell to the legislature.  Hennepin County is already paying a separate sales tax to pay the public portion of the Twins stadium and the St...

Attached is a link to an update on the Gopher's new stadium to be built on campus.  A lot of money is being spent to rebuild essentially the same stadium that was demolished when the Gopher's moved into the Metrodome.

The traffic congestion up here is awful. I commute up I-35 about 10 miles everyday from Lakeville to Bloomington and there is always a slow down/standstill because of congestion. The other problem is that only two lanes of I-35 are open to unrestricted traffic heading north to downtown Minneapolis. ...

Hammons has coveted the 132nd/144th and Dodge commercial park area for quite a while in West Omaha, but the covenants and restrictions related to the office parks (imposed by Boys Town) limit the height of buildings in the area to around 6 stories. 180th and Dodge sounds like a real possibility.
