Re: Douglas County 911 Center
When did a spouse suing the city become a disqualifying factor? There’s a word for that… discrimination. When said husband may have been involved with the PACE embezzlement. If they've got any evidence of his involvement I'd wonder why they let him leave the department "in good standing" ...

In the meantime I hope they try to turn this into a legitimate park. I'm getting tired of these blank open fields downtown instead of usable green space.

I could care less about height here. The biggest thing for me is the fact that this can theoretically bring a walkable neighborhood right to the edge of the interstate, and get us that much closer to having a fully connected midtown and downtown.

I dunno if this counts as being in the national media, but last season on Orphan Black (BBC America), BCBS's headquarters building in Aksarben Village was used as a stand-in for a research facility in a fictional town of "Tisdale" for a quick shot. [youtube]https://youtu.be/c3H3RFQXgg8[/yo...

I can honestly say guy, I probably would disagree with you on most everything, but it also can make you more interesting to talk to if you open up. When I attended Central High I was in JROTC and I had a retired LTC who taught the class who was interested in politics. I was 18 in 2008, and every day...

consider that the Lied Transplant center is only 12 stories, 16 could still look plenty tall, especially in that location. It's not the next first national, but the design will be the focal point over height and having one more pretty thing in town for people to come gawk at isn't bad.

I wonder if they put it back so far to prevent the residents and businesses there from making a parking fuss. I could see if you have an out of town person attend an event there and go to park their car, there's a nicer chance they look for parking in Aksarben Village if they don't see the ample par...

While I'd applaud a refurbishment of the building I don't see that happening. The building is far too close to the street to not be seen as a huge liability for any future Tennant. One major difference the article yesterday pointed out was that a streetcar line is more or less permanent, whereas a bus line can be changed at will. I'd hate to open a business right on a bus line just to have it shift north a few blocks a month after I open. Another I'd imagine is approach-abilit...

The problem is, the black folks in Omaha are getting into a lot more violent deaths per capita than other places. There must be an underlying factor there. Saying just, "oh there's more people dying in Chicago" ignores the fact that chicago has a lot more people to be dying. Why is the sma...

I'm not a police officer, but from what I do know of police officers, if I had to take a guess they were looking to use the element of surprise on someone they considered potentially armed in a nearby room. Knocking on the door or calling those patrons could alert the suspect and so a silent entranc...
