Bye-Bye No Frills if this happens. I just heard yesterday that things are already not looking good for them. As for Wal-Mart moving to the location of the old Target building - it's about time someone came in and filled that vacant space! I also heard yesterday that they were planning on something ...

Is it a local edition every week or would it be the same stories as other cities?  I just don't know much about The Onion's print side of things. The Onion's content – ie fake, funny news – is the same across the country. Or at least I'd assume so. As for now Omaha's AV Club portion is only syndica...

The Onion/AV Club expands to Omaha!

Popular satirical news source The Onion is now being distributed weekly in Omaha and is seeking local advertisers for the new edition. They might open up a local chapter of the A.V. Club (top-notch film/music coverage/criticism) soon -- according to a guy named Ian, the local Account Executive. Proo...

Total victory for the neighborhood, albeit far from the announcement of a 4-6 story mixed-use development. Sometime soon, I hope! Even so, glad someone is actually listening to the people who live and work in the area. Or is it just the strong-arms of MECA + NCAA? I'll take it either way. Also, I ob...

One Pacific Place seems like an odd choice for a TJ, especially with Whole Foods only 1 mile away.

I'd love to see it fill that empty Wild Oats space at 78th and Dodge.

How about a couple of attractive pedestrian bridges across 13th street from the OM? That would allow foot traffic to flow without having to alter traffic along 13th.

City Weekly newspaper sold, new corporation started

I believe as of April 2, or somewhere thereabouts, the City Weekly newspaper was sold to a new upstart, Omaha-based corporation named the City Media Group (CMG). The new corporation hopes to use the current Omaha weekly newspaper as a model and expand to other similar sized markets, either buying ex...

advocate or not, icejammer is on to something. it was those folks down at arbor lodge back in the day that couldn't stand the sight of a seemingly 'barren' landscape, even though eastern nebraska had been like that for thousands of years (minus fontenelle forest). all they wanted to do is recreate t...
