Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)

Also remember that Mayor Hal Daub had selected a tall Marriott hotel to accompany the convention center originally, but Mayor Mike Fahey changed it to the current Hilton. Can’t remember how tall the proposed hotel was, but I believe it was over 20 stories. Another what could have been.

Good lord   MANY MANY college students vote. I am 24 and a graduate student and have voted in every election since I was 18. My entire fraternity went and voted together at Nebraska Wesleyan and we were known as the party house on campus. Now, working on my MA at UNO I know hundreds of people ...

So because college students don't necessarily pay property taxes, we don't have a voice or can't have an opinion on whether or not to build a new stadium? I guess the increases we too will pay in car rental fees and hotel taxes (in terms of the stadium financing plan) nor the amounts we pay in state...

Last night on KETV, this site was highlighted as a potential option for the stadium if Lot D falls through. I hope that we don't move toward that. Not sure if KETV was assuming it was on the table or what.

Back to the stadium... I am worried we are reaching the point of no return. MECA is against this. David Sokol, Hal Daub, and other prominent Omahans are against this. The Omaha Restaurant Association is against it, including nearly 100 members. And the tax payers of Omaha are against it. From ...

Price tag could be well over $100 million. I think Fahey's limited plan to tax food and beverages is a smart idea. This project NEEDS to happen! Way to go Omaha! BREAKING NEWS: New Omaha ballpark could cost $116.5 million http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2798&u_sid=10149674 Burgers, brats a...

Saddle Creek Target Retail Space

Now that Target has finally bought out their lease agreement something can be done. This is a prime location that NEEDS to be redeveloped in Midtown!

jsheets, you beat me to it. I was just going to mention that it is Westfield-Gateway. I think Steve and Barry's is even lower on the quality scale than 3. When you pay $5.95 for a t-shirt, its not going to last long and is not made of the finest quality. Either way, if this rumor is true, Omaha will...

Professional Pictures of La Vista

I will be running for the La Vista City Council next year and would like a couple dozen professional shots taken of points of interest in La Vista for my website, literature, etc. I am trying to keep my cost low, but I would be willing to discuss some type of compensation. I would rather feature one...

Today I read another stupid public pulse letter in the OWH. It gives some advice for someone thinking about running for Mayor, including how not to built the new stadium or supporting an arena that no one can afford to go to, etc. As usual, I was compelled to respond. Below is my letter to the OWH.....
