Former Charleston’s -> Brazilian Steakhouse
I’m hearing this secondhand but it’s from someone who SHOULD know: the former Charlestons at 138th and Dodge is going to become a Brazilian steakhouse.

Has NuStyle ever done new construction? Aside from the State Office Building lot, I think this is the most pitiable spot in downtown. This is begging for something decent across from The Rose. Highline phase 2 and they are finishing a new build on 24th and Howard right now. Ahh that’s right! I forg...

“Just run buses or shuttles.”
This. The intent should be to get people easily from the airport to downtown. There are not developable opportunities due to jails, homeless shelters, a lake, and airport property itself.

We all knew it was only a matter of time before Lot B and D were developed. There is no need to have every lot of their own garage. Lot D is huge. I would rather build a large one to handle all the stalls from Lot B and D combined. This opens up the option I listed above to make Lot B a mixed use p...

Lot B is going to have a large parking component regardless, as it'll have to match the number of parking spaces lost due to the development.

It's not. Gas stations end up making about three to seven cents a gallon off the gas.

Personally I thought the Mercantile made sense too, but with grocery being a thin profit margin industry maybe the rent is too much? From elsewhere on the board, there is supposedly going to be something going in North Downtown. So the most likely contenders are the Civic Site and 16th and Burt-ish.

I’m siding with 11th and Harney. 1. The recent soil sampling that was done, and 2. There already was kind of a release about the Civic site. For a press conference to be called, I’d have to think that entails something “new”. Edit: if it IS 10th and Harney (or the old UP site), it will be more than ...

It's not a secret anymore. They officially announced it as a Barnes & Noble on their Facebook page . Nestled in the former Best Buy space at Shadow Lake, Barnes & Noble will occupy an expansive 12,000 SF, and is currently under construction. Not sure if 12,000 SF is the entire old Best Buy ...

Ground floor retail, half office space / half hotel. Assuming FNBO would have occupied the office space anyways. With the Woodman Tower coming online a few years later and us having both a 30-story and a 36-story by 1970, I wonder if there would have been more aggressiveness in building upwards?

I don’t think you’re getting it though… so they’re going to tear down the existing, structurally sound multi-level garage so they can build some more garages. A garage is being torn down in order to build new garages, that the city has to pay for?
Thumbs down from me.

I think the beginning of the downturn of Oak View was when Champps Americana went belly-up due to a corporate reorganization. They just posted on Facebook that they are closing the Omaha location on Feb 27th…that didn’t last long. And this is why donating to Gofundme’s for restaurants is foolish (I know he refunded - I just mean in general). It doesn’t fix the fundamental issues that are going wrong with the restaurant.
