Re: 1200 Landmark Center Turning to Condos
Hello, fellow forumers. Heard from a reliable source that the landmark building is looking to remove the current tenants, except Farnam Hotel, and build condos on the remaining floors. I believe Farnam Hotel occupies around 5-6 floors, but I could be wrong. And the remaining 10 or so will be conver...

Re: The Crossroads (72 & Dodge)
Why would the city need to be involved then?
If it’s a doable venture, the current developer should be able to sell it to a different one.
If it’s a dud, I don’t want my tax dollars being spent to bail out the current developer just to have a hole in the ground that the city is stuck with.

Re: I-80 signs on the iowa side
Kansas City does the same. They have signs for i29 N for St Joseph and only after you pass St Joseph, are there signs for Council Bluffs as if Omaha was hidden. In this example, it is. Because I-29 doesn’t go through Omaha, Council Bluffs will be the listed city. The signs should be in reference to...

Westroads, Crossroads, Southroads, Oak View. There was a time when Omaha had 4 shopping malls. Was The Center still an active mall during that time period? Heck, isn't it still crawling along now? It's mostly office space now. I'd consider it an active mall until the time Younker's left - maybe the...

Well, I just never saw the need for it. The terrain there certainly isn't unstable. And I don't think I-80 would be less safe if that "kink" wasn't there. No offense, but I will take the word of the guy associated with this kind of work who can cite regulatory requirements, over feelings….

They tried to make Mexican/Tex-Mex a little upscale and nobody around here is much into that. A similar thing happens with Chinese cuisine. No matter how nice the décor, how stellar the service, and how fancy it's plated, people will look at the menu and see a $15 burrito and instantly think of a p...

If that were true, the City of Omaha would not be an aggressive annexing entity. I think that's an entirely different thing. If Omaha Doesn't annex what it can, it could lose the option to do so later. Probably the absolute best example is St Louis. Where St Louis City is like 250,000 people, is th...

I really love CB's notion of a multimodal bridge across the mo for bikes/pedestrians as an extension of the 1st Ave trail and an accompanying streetcar line. If the core was remotely close to being full, sure I can maybe buy that argument. But we are nowhere close to that.
