Re: John E. Johnston & Son Funeral Home

to suggest that I personally buy every property that should be saved is ridiculous.  That is the same as me saying that you should buy the Wall Street Tower site and build a skyscraper if you have a problem with the decision making that has gone into that situation. You're doing the exact same thin...

Re: John E. Johnston & Son Funeral Home

Cities on the east coast and Europe show us what can be done with old buildings - the options are endless. There is an ordinance in Savannah, GA that you cannot tear buildings down in the downtown area. The result is increased tourism dollars. They have managed to find uses for those buildings. I am...

Re: John E. Johnston & Son Funeral Home

The house will be open this Saturday from 2-4 pm. I toured this house with Restoration Exchange recently and it is truly amazing. Omaha is losing a work of art that can never be gotten back. The horse barn in the back of the house still has bunks built directly into the walls for the servants to sle...

Green Slate also presented at the neighborhood meeting last night. Conceptual renderings for the Stoll's lot and the corner of 41st and Harney project were shared. Both looked very cool, particularly the project for the Stoll's lot. The lot will be occupied by two buildings with a courtyard between ...

Re: Houses to the north of (Leavenworth) Kwik Shop on 36th

Went to a neighborhood meeting last night where this project design was being presented by CIP. The building will consist of two levels of parking under three levels of apartments. Apartments will range from studios to two bedrooms. The design of the building has changed to accommodate approximately...

Re: The Next Blackstone? - North Saddlecreek Rd?

I think Leavenworth between 29th and 42nd (or so) will be the next area to really take off. There is quite a bit of quality old building stock along Leavenworth, many lots that could be redeveloped and a number of apartment projects that have been proposed or are already under way in the area. It is...

Re: Little Marcy

I stand corrected - these townhouses will be in the bungalow style shown above. Future projects will have a flat roof.

Re: Little Marcy

The first set of these are moving forward and I believe you can see where framing has started on 31st Street just south of Leavenworth. The design has evolved and I am told it will be much more modern in appearance with flat roofs.

Re: Houses to the north of (Leavenworth) Kwik Shop on 36th

This project is the final design phase. U shaped building. Office on Leavenworth with courtyard and apartments behind. Courtyard to include a pool. The developer has been meeting regularly with the Blackstone Neighborhood Association and, from what I understand, the Blackstone is satisfied with how ...

Urban Village has purchased the property from Dial Realty. Dial is still doing work on other projects in the neighborhood, but this project is moving forward with Urban Village as the developer.

From what I understand, it is to be a U shaped building with underground parking. I think Spaces on Park Avenue is also about 140 units.

The UNMC rep indicated the hotel was being built by UNMC for UNMC patients and their families and stated that it was going to be a Marriott. He gasped and covered his mouth after saying Marriott.

Not sure if this has already been said, but I was in a neighborhood meeting with UNMC about a month ago and they confirmed that they are building a Marriott in the area of 42nd and Farnam. This will be a different hotel from the one being built on the sloping lot adjacent to Dodge Street.

The Conrad (36th & Leavenworth)

Anyone know what is going on with the houses to the north of the Kwik Shop on 36th? The siding is torn off and it looks like a couple have been gutted. I see that a company called "Invest Omaha I" owns almost the entire block. The Assessors website has a Lincoln address for the company.
