They have to be ancient. Those foundations have been visible from 72nd St for at least a decade. No kidding! What were the failed projects? Crappy apartments Wow, I'm gonna have go look next time I go by that way. If memory serves, they were being built by a developer from Minneapolis right before ...

Re: Flatiron District?

According to the Market West website, their neighborhood is actually east of the Flatiron. Plus I don't see any news more recent than 5 years ago. I think a mini district around the Flatiron would be awesome. There are a lot of old buildings nearby and an urban landscape that is gritty in its appear...

Sometimes I wish I-29 ran through Nebraska instead of Iowa. I've said that before, but it is true. I completely agree. Imagine Nebraska City, Plattsmouth, Blair, and Bellevue with 40 years of freeway miles to encourage development and commuting into Omaha. Wow what would've been. I think it would'v...

Uninspiring, but there are three potential wins here: 1.) A grocery store comes to downtown 2.) The main library comes to this site and opens the current library site for development 3.) The NE State Offices move here and opens the brick monstrosity to development on the south side of Leahy Mall. I...

Well, it's certainly not maxing-out the full potential for the four-block site, density-wise, but the building designs look pretty good. I'm still not convinced there's really a need to move the library, unless you show me some really substantial replacement going into the old site. The current lib...

It was more than just CONAgra. It was Gavilon, UP, Gordmans, OPPD, Werner, Valmont and West Corp. Big companies had layoffs and slumping profits. Agriculture is really hurting also. And again, people don't move to Nebraska. Nebraska counts on birth rates and immigrants to grow its population. And i...

Why don't they clean the graffiti underneath the 480 bridge? I think that might draw more people to the riverfront.

While they're at it they should create an art contest for local artists to paint underneath the viaduct.
