Re: Nebraska Wind Energy

I'm very excited to hear about this. Only 10 short years ago wind energy was seen as something only hippies were interested in. Now it's good business! Soon Nebraska will once again have some of the cheapest electricity in the country. I would love it if someday, the city allowed quiet wind turbines...

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield

I flew into the Quad Cities airport and their terminal area, albeit small was gorgeous. It was airy, full of huge windows with nice views of the runways. Eppley could learn something from the brightness of the space. It's much better than the tan bricks that we have.

I suspect there's a lot of investment going into hayneedle now that Walmart is trying to build up their online business to compete with Amazon. I ordered from hayneedle a few years ago, and it was a very good experience. I'm happy to see they're doing well.

I think those are really good observations that I hadn't noticed. Maybe they want people to enter through the back? I agree with you that although this is an awesome development for the area, there are multiple missed opportunities to make this building special.

Re: REAL ESTATE MARKET: Omaha

Last weekend on Grow Omaha, Mike Riedmann from NP Dodge said there are only 2300 homes on the market in Omaha. Wow! Is that total inventory? If that is the case, you can expect some sort of housing building boom in the next few years. There just isn't enough supply in the market right now. I have m...

I'm less interested in more chain restaurants and more interested in the local takes on different types of food that have been popping up more and more in Omaha. We won't gain any recognition for our great food here if you can get the same exact thing in your home town. I agree with this. Although ...

Sometimes I wish I-29 ran through Nebraska instead of Iowa. I've said that before, but it is true. I completely agree. Uninspiring, but there are three potential wins here: 1.) A grocery store comes to downtown 2.) The main library comes to this site and opens the current library site for development 3.) The NE State Offices move here and opens the brick monstrosity to development on the south side of Leahy Mall. I...

Well, it's certainly not maxing-out the full potential for the four-block site, density-wise, but the building designs look pretty good. I'm still not convinced there's really a need to move the library, unless you show me some really substantial replacement going into the old site. The current lib...

Maybe I have a fear of the river, but I think of the many floods, deaths, and the wreck of the Bertrand. Personally I would never feel comfortable sleeping on a ship on that river that is not docked. All that being said, if people want to cruise up to Omaha on the river and spend their tourist money...
