Re: HDR Aksarben Office

I think what really turned me off the downtown option was the north side of the building and the gigantic parking facility that rose up nearly half of the building. Because that design sucked too. It seems Omaha doesn't know how to hide the parking garages in 1.either the CENTER of the block or hav...

I wonder why Benson, Dundee, and the Old Market didn't work out. It seems to me that Benson and the Old Market would be perfect listings for something like this.

Re: What does Omaha need?

I really like the water fountain idea. I think public art enhances a sense of space and increases attraction to businesses. KC has water fountains, but I admit they're not always apparent. The two that I have seen are at the airport and the nearby the Nelson art museum. I think these also add an air...

The World Herald posted this weekend that they are now going to make the paper an inch shorter starting next week. About a month ago they said they were not publishing the TV Guide no more to save paper. This is getting ugly. If they cut that paper back too much more its going to be the size of a c...

I would love it if someday, the city allowed quiet wind turbines to be used by businesses and homeowners. It would be great to have in the event of a natural disaster. Re: Never built Omaha Marriott Hotel

The main reason Fahey chose the smaller Hilton was cost; the Hilton was originally bid at $60 million for the 400 rooms versus over $90 million for the 528 room Marriott. The redesigns to the Hilton pushed the final cost of the Hilton to $71 million for 450 rooms. Pretty tough to justify spending t...

This is fantastic growth.. As the W-H piece points out, a strong indicator of an excellent economy combined with increased demand for larger planes, more seats and now a record 29 non stop destinations.. I'd like to see that number increase to the mid 30's within the next 18 or so months... Ciao..L...

Re: Zag Apartments (51st & Mayberry)

I agree that the increase in the price of rental properties in Omaha is outrageous. I believe the increases in rent are not keeping pace with wage increases. I suspect that if this continues there will be an apartment bubble or at least a luxury apartment bubble. If the bubble doesn't happen due to ...

I'm very excited to hear about this. Only 10 short years ago wind energy was seen as something only hippies were interested in. Now it's good business! I flew into the Quad Cities airport and their terminal area, albeit small was gorgeous. It was airy, full of huge windows with nice views of the runways. Eppley could learn something from the brightness of the space. It's much better than the tan bricks that we have.
